Good for North Dakota, but of course, this is only happening because environmental whackos/Democrats have for years prevented further development of Alaska’s crude oil reserves.

I guess North Dakota can’t compete in the “Pristine Wilderness” category in the eyes of the Eco-freaks at the Interior Department?
If she hadn’t raised taxes so high in Alaska on the oil companies, they would be seeing more of those investment dollars today.
BP just committed to spend billions on enhanced oil recovery for old North Sea fields. It is sad to think they are not competitive with the North Sea.

Yes, people on the ground are talking about the EPA showing up in greater numbers of late, sniffing around, as if looking for ways to make trouble.
Two things going for North Dakota. An eager, industrious public not afraid of hard work or of making money; and a large Native American population smack in the middle of the Bakken Field, which means that any effort to squelch production will hit that favored, protected species just as hard as the supposed grubby, greedy whites.
As it happens a lot of tribal members are out working hard in the patch too, and not just cashing lease and royalty checks.
Alaska should be producing twice as much as it is, and North Dakota is capable of producing more than that, for a very long time.
If I were there I’d do my best to make the EPA geeks feel VERY unwelcome.
When in Alaska in 1973,was working on the Dolly Varden (Marathon Oil Co,) production platform which was producing over 60,000 bopd. Marathon transferred me to Wyoming in 1976, know production fell off drastically on the Dolly, but not by how much.
Sure! Just issue automatic weapons and LAWS rockets to the Sioux & Northern Cheyene and have them establish "checkpoints". Flaming trucks!

Yep, I guess it's harder to make the case that a wheat farm or cattle farm is a pristine wilderness, but they better drill faster before some EPA idiot finds an endangered grasshopper.
True but what the feds do have is in the middle of the Bakken play. They oil companies have been leasing up some of the BLM land but I haven’t paid attention to how much drilling is going on out there.
