Rick Perry 's campaign team, undaunted by plunge in polls, readies phase two
Washington Post ^ | Oct 15, 2011 | Dan Balz

What he means is that in terms of money raised, organizations in place in early-voting states and policy proposals in the pipeline, everything is on track.

On Friday, Perry delivered his first major policy speech, outlining a series of executive actions that would accelerate exploration and production of domestic energy resources and create, he said, more than a million jobs. The next speech, scheduled for Oct. 25, will outline his plan for the economy, which has been a big hole in his message.

After the economic speech, Perry will tackle border security, foreign policy and government reform. The package of speeches, campaign officials hope, will do what the debates have not done, which is to flesh out Perry's profile as a conservative governor with the ideas and leadership qualities to be president.

In other words, the campaign that Perry's team hoped to run from the beginning will be able to start in earnest. He may have dug himself a deep hole with the four debates he's been in so far, but here in Austin, there is more defiant determination than pessimism in the concrete-walled command post.

Thanks for the ping shield and you too rita (forgot to thank you earlier; sorry about that)

This is the leader we need. I'm just through the first video and Gov Perry is awesome. This is what we need and Gov Rick Perry has the record to prove, that he will do for the Nation, what he's done in Texas.

Personally, I love the fact that he is hated by Trial Lawyers!! That alone should give people a reason to pay attention!

PERRY 2012

What is rather sad is the last hope for America is Rick Perry. Even Dr. Jack Wheeler realizes this.

His energy speech was awesome.

That he can read a speech his staff developed and his scriptwriters wrote is not really that big a deal..

Here’s the bad part. A lot of the talking points the former Palinistas and Paultards are repeating were started by Dem posters on a number of conservative boards and forums. No one gave a crap about in-state tuition when it happened it 2001 in Texas, but now all of a sudden it’s a “I won’t vote for Perry because he’s an amnesty supporter.” Hate to see conservatives fall for it.

Rick Perry speaks for me; he speaks for the American that believes in individualism; for those that want to work hard, support their family, and generally be left the hell alone (I fall into the latter group!)

GOVERNOR RICK PERRY FOR PRESIDENT---2012!

His Q & A’s are the best. He has no trouble at all dealing without written speeches, or scrptwriters. You ought to educate yourself and watch his interviews and Q&A’s. The pundits can’t trip him up in the least...like what has happened to Cain...the neophyte.

Perry is polling as low as 2% in some of the early states, 3 times less than even pathethic Huntsman, While Cain is now polling 30%+

Cain has this, and he lead will only increase as the also rans like Bachmann, Santorum, and Gingrich start dropping out.

Well, this WH has spent millions to cause the loons on the right to be led to the slaughter. Without Perry...they and America is doomed.

How about you answer the questions instead of dreaming up the next attack rant to post about Cain?

Typical. You ask for positive reasons to vote for Perry instead of attacking Cain. I give you 10 positive reasons, and you hit me with an attack on Perry. Why don't you practice what you preach, and make positive arguments for Cain instead of repeating what someone says Bill Krystol said once. Who cares? Krystol says all kinds of stuff. That's his job. And BTW, when have I ever posted an "attack rant" about Cain? You can look up my posts, so go ahead, give me your best example.

Wonder who Perry will be VP with? Odd how that question never gets asked of Perry.

Maybe they have, how would you know? Perry is smart enough to not answer the question. If you plan on winning, why would you?

From the thread article:

“Given the turbulence, Perry campaign officials have their talking points down pat: Romney hasn’t been able to expand his support; Perry excels at retail campaigning; GOP voters will eventually see him as the conservative alternative; nothing has happened yet to prevent Perry from winning. As Miner put it: “This race isn’t going to be decided by pundits in a television studio in Washington. It will be decided by people who live on Main Street in the states.”

Perry can win the nomination, and I for one hope he does just that.I want a Perry/Bachman ticket.

I had moved on because of the Texas DREAM Act and the unprepared appearances at the debates. But yesterday I read Perry’s plan for pushing American energy to create jobs without waiting for Congress and its actually very good. I am also a die hard states righter and I am desparate to see the Federal govt shrunk down to size. So unless he is just an abject liar Perry is also for all of these things. He needs to show up at the next debate prepared. Otherwise Romney is just going to marginalize him.

This next election is so important that I think we have all got to make a very careful and thoughtful choice. Obviously Mitt Romney is just not the guy. I think it’s Cain or Perry. So at this point Perry is back on my list of possibles. So is Newt if he can get some traction.

That is unfortunate and counter-productive.

We should equate this campaign with the tea party taking over a limp wristed, RINO infested, congress and RNC.

WE hang in there; we do not bail.

FR is a wonderful Forum; it is conservative overall and FR IS NOT the problem.

The problem is those kooks that continue to slander and lie about Gov Perry.

"Bailing" is not the answer.

Thank you for the list and I would like to add a few points:

Perry is the only candidate who is actually handling the immigration issue on a daily and manytimes on an hourly basis. All the others are blowing theory. He has handled it rather well considering that the feds have refused to protect our borders.

The law was put into effect when the public split on immigration was about 50/50. On May 5th, 2006, the protests in LA, with their prominent display of Mexican flags, really anti-American attitudes turned the country against immigration. The change occured over the susequent 3 days as I watched very carefully.

Perry has been underrated in all of his elections. I do not think he is out of the race by any stretch of the imagination. Texas is littered with politicos who thought they had him beat.

So, I ask you to merely watch and not write him off. You may be surprised as have been many others throughout his career.

Exactly, well said. The mindset of Perry has been exposed as pro-illegal.
