June 12, 2008 - Obama promotes middle-class tax cut
The Boston Globe ^ | June 12, 2008 | Foon Rhee

Barack Obama will highlight his middle-class tax cuts during an event today in Wisconsin, a potential battleground state in November.

Obama is talking to Ryan and Jenny Micke of Appleton. With two kids, Ryan is a unit director with the Boys and Girls Club at the local middle school and Jenny works as an educational assistant at a nearby preschool. With a combined income of less than $40,000 year and $120,000 left on their mortgage, they live paycheck to paycheck and work hard to make ends meet, the Obama campaign said.

The presumptive Democratic nominee will go in armed with a study that suggests that his proposals would give families making between about $38,000 and $66,000 a year an average tax cut of $1,042 -- three times more than the $319 in savings they would get from the tax cut plans of Republican John McCain.

Remember this?

The reason why Obama won in 2008 is because he co opted the Conservative platform of lowering taxes. He lied, but it worked. The person who is going to win in 2012 is going to be the one who tells the people I am going to get you more money in your pocket. Obama will do it by saying he is going to take it from the rich and give it to you. The Conservative message has to be, “I’m going to take it from the government and let you keep it and I’m going to help you make more”. Why would we want to hitch our wagon to the guy who is saying 'I am going to create a new way to take money from you and give it to the government'? That message will not win.

If Cain is the Candidate then I will support him, but I do not believe his message can win. Please consider this carefully before you pull support from another Conservative that could lead to a Romney victory (God Forbid) or give it to someone who can not win the general. If you don't like Perry then look at Santorum, I met him a few days ago at a non-political event at the Arlington-Mansfield Pregnancy Center (didn't stay for the event, Rangers/ALCS) But he has an incredible story about why abortion should never be considered. Perry gets my support for now because I believe he can fix the economy and make America strong again.

-Have at me but please don't get offended because I don't respond...Rangers ALCS...

Oh yeah...GO RANGERS!

From 2008?

Well, it is 4 years later. Whenthe Bush tax cuts expire, between that and rising health care costs, how much will that 60k a year family save?

With a combined income of $40K and two kids, what is their TAX BURDEN?

Around here their kids would be in free breakfast, free lunch and get state paid healthcare. Virtually every camp or kids program would be free or nil due to their low income. Free camp, free music lessons, free dance lessons, virtually free daycare through Boys and Girls Club.

So, will this family get a “tax cut” of $1000 or a wealth transfer?

Check the date, it’s a lie from 08. My point is that his message gave him the Presidency. We have to win with the message of Reagan and our Founders, not, ‘we’re going to change the way we tax you’.

Of course the libs are pretending otherwise but this country has gone through a genuine paradigm shift after 3 years of obamanation. They keep referring to past Presidential elections and relying — either earnestly or pretentiously — on past historical data about incumbency advantages and so forth, but this will be like NO OTHER ELECTION in the history of this country. That’s why these occu’peers and their billionaire hedge fund patrons are so wrong about the mood of the country. Their tactics of in your face, “we’ll bring a gun if you bring a knife,” loud and rowdy a la Wisconsin goonions and holler and drum banging and nifty little slogans — “Bush lied, people died!!!!” — ain’t gonna work. Too much cognitive understanding after 3 years of OccupyWH community agitator.
