A lesbian couple in California who say their 11-year-old son Tommy may actually be a girl named Tammy are giving their child hormone blockers that delay the onset of puberty -- so that he can have more time to decide exactly who he, or she, is.
The couple’s supporters say the Hormone Blocking Therapy has only minor side effects and is appropriate for a child who is unsure of his gender. "This is definitely a changing landscape for transgender youth," said Joel Baum, director of education and training for Gender Spectrum, a California-based non-profit group. "This is about giving kids and their families the opportunity to make the right decision."

Unless the child suffers from hermaphroditism, which is extremely rare, how could there be a question as to his sex? If he's a boy and they want to change him into a girl, they will have to replace every cell in his body.

Could be....I mean who else is the child going to identify with? He has two lesbian “Mothers” who are probably Man Haters..God Knows what they have filled the Childs head with! Could be as simple as he got into mommy’s “Special” drawer in the bedroom.....
Sins of the fathers (or in this case the...whatevers) being visited upon the child. Clearly imposing their dysfunction on an innocent child.
This is not disfiguring the child. Disfiguring him would be castration and giving him female hormones. This delays puberty so that he doesn’t develop male secondary sexual characteristics.
I believe that there are a few, very few, people who truly in their heads are wired to be the other sex from early childhood. I imagine myself as a girl developing whiskers, an Adam’s apple, an enlarged penis, broad shoulders...a monstrous transformation of my body. I can see such a child responding with self-mutilation or suicide.
Given this boy’s difficult life, the stress of adoption, the lack of a father, the weird sexual politics of his household - his transgender issues are likely not to be innate, but acquired. Still, the delay of puberty could give him more time to accept his masculinity (with good therapy in a better family setting.)
At least the law and medical standards do not permit him to be castrated until he is eighteen.

I wonder if any doctor has ever prescribed hormone blockers to a child? I just think an 11 year old (with a liver, heart. etc of a child) should be given hormone blockers to delay puberty. Has any long term studies been done to show that this child won’t develop some sort of cancer or other malady? If this child wants/chooses to become the opposite sex, I think that is an adult decision for him later. Sadly, it doesn’t sound like his Mother/parent figures think that this child NEEDS help. In fact, they are supporting the decision of a child. It is definitely a very sad case.

For them to believe in their minds that they are something that reality (their physical bodies) tells them they are not is a mental disorder. You say that their brains are wired to be the other sex. I say their brains are mis-wired.
Sounds to me like the parents are homophobes!
If their brains are mis-wired (a neurological condition) the disorder may not be at all amenable to psychological therapy.
If on the other hand, the disorder stems from psychological injury, perhaps psychology can cure it.
My impression is that there are three kinds of transgender disorders.
1) Neurological miswiring - genetic, hormonal, prenatal environment.
2) Psychological - stemming from abuse, really bad family dynamics, or in boys of a rather timid nature, fear of normal male aggressiveness.
3) Erotic fetishizing - a man’s arousal by the thought of himself as a woman - autogynephilia - cross-dressing taken even further. A psychologist (psychiatrist?) got himself crucified recently by the PC establishment for proposing this but it’s obvious even to a layperson in some cases.
First of all,it’s “sex” not “gender” and second,there should be no confusion. He has a wee-wee. That makes him Tommy,not Tammy.

The idea that some peoples' brains are "mis-wired" so they think they are the opposite sex is a fallacy invented by those pushing the "GLBT" etc agenda. Even John Hopkins Hospital which used to perform "sex re-assignment" surgery stopped a few years ago, due to the fact that "transgenders" are mentally ill people and catering to their mental illness merely harms them further. This poor boy is being destroyed by his mentally ill sex pervert caretakers, who never, EVER should have been allowed custody of this boy.

No matter the reason for the disorder, it is still a disorder that needs to be dealt with. Trying to alter reality (sex change) to fit the disorder is not doing the person any favors.
