GOP presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul will unveil his economic plan Monday afternoon, calling for a lower corporate tax rate, cutting spending by $1 trillion during his first year in office and eliminating five cabinet-level agencies, including the Education Department, according to excerpts released to Washington Wire.
Mr. Pauls Restore America plan calls for a drastically reduced federal government to help spur American business a familiar theme for the Texas Republican and many of the GOP White House hopefuls. But unlike some of his Republican rivals who have released economic plans, the libertarian congressman mostly avoids the weeds of tax and trade policy, according to excerpts.
But Mr. Paul does get specific when he calls for a 10% reduction in the federal work force, while pledging to limit his presidential salary to $39,336, which his campaign says is approximately equal to the median personal income of the American worker. The current pay rate for commander in chief is $400,000 a year.
The Paul plan would also lower the corporate tax rate to 15% from 35%, though it is silent on personal income tax rates, which Mr. Paul would like to abolish. The congressman would end taxes on personal savings and extend all Bush tax cuts.

one word... BOZO
There is a good half to Ron Paul. If only it was just that good economic half that were running for President I might even be a paulbot sympathizer. As is, his nutty foreign and defense policy positions ruin him and prevent most actual conservatives from taking him seriously.
I like what I see here, other than I’m sure that his trillion dollars in savings involves wiping-out the DOD
It is a good idea to cut spending by $1 trillion, eliminate five cabinet departments (especially Education), etc. However, that simply suggests that paleoPaulie wants to be sure that, when he surrenders our nation to the jihadist Islamofascisti to be part of their world caliphate, it will be in good enough economic shape to please them. I am not impressed nor am I deluded enough to vote for the gutless little pipsqueak!
This is a symbolic gesture that could do more harm than good, if it were to be official policy. The only people who would then run for POTUS would have to be those that don't need the money anyway. It would prevent otherwise good people from running for office (for example, a Joe the Plummer type).
Sorry Rep. Paul. I believe that people should be compensated for the value they bring to the job or in line with the difficulty of the job. $400K for POTUS is appropriate.
The symbolic gesture only promotes more class warfare.
Come with us! Planet LRon is out of this world!
"..presidential salary to $39,336.."
This just PROVES he is a nut-case!

You get what you pay f0r, but I think $39,000 a year is waaaayyy to much for this guy,
Yea, we like ceaseless war in every hell-hole on earth, and sending tons of cash to all kinds of wierdo foreign governments!
No need to change anything.
Exactly right prescription for our domestic disease.

If they aren't covered by Art 1 Sec 8, they need to go. Period. No excuses. Not even "good" excuses.
Are you against cutting Cabinet departments? Or are you incapable of a coherent thought on the subject of Ron Paul’s ideas?
How many are there now, that need the salary?
I don’t want anything to do with that dingbat..
Presidential and Congressional pay is an obsession of the stupid and clueless.
I'd argue that even discussing the elimination of cabinet departments in the current budget climate is a gigantic waste of time. Basically, if you're not talking Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Defense, and Taxes you're wasting your time.
