"Cain was supposed to attend the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on Sunday. I like many people watched it -- was moved by it -- but he failed to attend," MSNBC host Martin Bashir said on his show today. "Now theres been some surprise at his absence. But being honest, isnt this consistent for a man who really doesn't want to be overtly associated with African-Americans?"

Where do all these WHITE people get off talking for Blacks?
They can and DO make up their own minds without the paternalistic promptings of the democrats.
Piers Morgan
Martin Bashir
is america so bereft of reporting talent
we import show host idiots like this?
Maybe, just maybe, he wants to be associated with Americans, some of whom are white and some of whom are black, rather than the hyphenated-Americans who are something else first.
Cain is an American.
O’Bonzo is an African Arab.
Mayber Mr Cain doesn’t want to associate with those types of Americans.
Herman is dissing his wife and kids? What does his Church congregation think about this?
Could be a bombshell here/s
These morons have no shame....do they think their poop doesn’t stink?
Martin Bashir, isn’t that the same clown who associates with pedophiles
Herman Cain states that he is a BLACK AMERICAN. It is Cain’s right to define what he thinks he is..
Any of us have the right to call ourselves what we want.
It is time for these so called journalists to STOP telling people what they are.
I Wonder if Cains wife knows Herman doesn’t want to be associated with other blacks ? / s
If I’m not mistaken, Cain was on the Sunday shows, at least MTP with David Gregory.
Which was much more helpful to his campaign, because he got to talk about his ideas in a venue that would reach potentially millions (by way of the internet, not direct viewship), than attending a ceremony where, frankly, Libs such as Bashir might have taken the opportunity to disrupt the ceremony by protesting or harrassing Cain.
Oh, I forgot: Bashir and his ilk conclude Cain is “not a serious candidate,” so of course he should have just forgotten about that golden invitation to be on MTP.
Also Cain often pays homage to Martin Luther King in his stump speeches. He does it the right way.
Well I am Black and did not attend either. Oh that is right I actually live in Washington D.C. and have seen the thing more than once or twice and what would Herman Cain actually gain from having attended this, other than to be totally ignored by the press since the Tea Party is backing him and we all know according to the press the Tea Party is racist——sarc.
I didn’t go to Ted Kennedy’s funeral.
Freedom of association. Gotta love it.
Freedom of association. Gotta love it.
If Cain were to show up, the Jesse Jacksons and Rev. Sharptons would be asking why is the Uncle Tom here? The liberal media would spout about his lack of compassion. He would be in the cross hairs whether he showed up or not.
Just as well he avoided it.
You left out Tawana Sharpton.
"Now theres been some surprise at his absence. But being honest, isnt this consistent for a man who really doesn't want to be overtly associated with African-Americans?"That's racist!
Big gaff on Cain's part, he may very well loose the black vote now.
