And even though he said repeatedly, that will be the end of the matter.

That’s the way it is for Mr Cain.

Non-issue. What counts is what he first said. And he made it MORE THAN CLEAR that he was not about to coddle to Illegals.

We know where his ‘heart’ is...

GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain on Monday indicated his controversial proposal for building an electric fence along the Mexican border is still on the table.

I hope it won't offend anyone if I point out that Cain refused to back down on favoring an electric fence. He was only "joking" in saying the voltage should be lethal.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa.

I think it's Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

But, if I were the president, I'd have our military armed and with orders to shoot anyone coming over our borders. I'd give the morons a one (1) week notice on every media station in the US and then shoot.. . . shoot dead . . . I'd be damned if I'd give Miranda warnings and other crap . . . shoot to kill.

So. I’m in Texas, I can do the same if they come on my property and break the law.

Really? Cain said he’d go thru Mexico killing people? He’s going to grab them and throw them on top of an electrified fence?

Yep, and just like on Illegals, he told us where his ‘heart’ is in dealing with Islam.

(...and people wonder why he’s taking the lead now)

I thought he was joking about the fence being electric but was serious about there being a fence. But now you say he was serious about an electrified fence but just joking on it being lethal. Clear as mud.

Good to see Herman Cain apologize but this is gonna tick off a whole lot of folks around here. Those folks who like electrifying fences, installing land mines and building machine gun implacements on the Tex-Mex border.

Now the question is. Will those folks who took offense to Rick Perry's "heartless" remark, stop holding a grudge and accept his apology?

Imo, doubtful.

No, I always look at the FIRST comment as to where he truly stands - and so do others, as in the ‘heartless’ episode, followed by immediate collapse, of yours truly.

If people think that Cain’s supporters are going to pack up when the next round of polling hits, they’re badly mistaken.

No, we won’t, until his heart moves.

Now that he’s got three years left on his governorship, here is an idea that will cause most people to forgive him:

Simply press the state legislature to pass the kind of anti-illegal immigrant laws that Alabama passed. And if they won’t do it in regular session in 2013, call a Special Session, and then another, and then another...just like he did on the new Business Tax.

Sure, some parts may get thrown out in court, but it will, once and for all, show all of us where his ‘heart’ REALLY lies on the question of coddling Illegals.

“Just curious...can you imagine any of Cain’s current supporters saying, “Oops! I guess I like Perry better!”

Naa, not going to happen. If Cain does start to fall, it goes to Newt. The problem is that Cain will still keep a lot of support, and the conservatives will split...giving Romney smooth sailing.

I would JUST LOVE to think that us FReepers are unified against that...but it doesn’t appear that way.

Paraphrased from another thread...

Explain why you think the Mexican or any other people are so stupid that they don’t know that they are committing a crime and risking their lives coming across our border illegally. Seems pretty racist to think so little of their intelligence.

Or is there another explanation why you feel that they would knowingly walk into an obviously dangerous and potentially deadly situation...like an electrified fence?

The “heartless” remark was one incident that most conservatives won't forget.

The other is the way he spends taxpayer's money to enable Illegals to get educated AND pave the way to citizenship and employment!

Yea, he was checking the mike. Yep, it was working. And like you said, they were SHOCKED by what he said...just as shocked as the people on this site claim to be by the thought of an electric fence keeping Illegals out (no pun intended).

You don’t fly a flag on your home page so we have no idea where you are from.

But what do you have against ‘states rights’?

I can agree there are some questions about the instate tuition thing but keep in mind this was a Texas State Legislature item that passed by a vote of 177 - 4. It’s a right of the state to spend their money the way they choose. Now you may not elect to do that in your state and that’s the right of the people of your state.

LOL. Notice that I laid out exactly what Perry needs to do to get back into good graces with the Republicans, in Post 31.

It was a serious suggestion to the most serious problem that he had...yet they ignored it completely. That leads me to believe that they’re not quite what they claim to be (i.e., just average-Joe’s supporting Perry).

Looks like Cain is quickly learning to be a politician.

We have had enough of gutless politicians pandering to the professional victims every time they whine about being offended.
