Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday hailed the release of 477 prisoners as part of the deal to release Gilad Schalit as a victory for the Palestinian people.
During a rally in Ramallah, Abbas said that Palestinians around the world were watching as the prisoners we being released. "Dear brothers and sisters, your families in Palestinian territories and around the world are looking at you now and are happy that you are being released," Abbas said. "I ask Allah to forgive these martyrs."
Thousands of Palestinians gathered in the West Bank on Tuesday morning to celebrate the impending release of prisoners in the first stage of the Gilad Schalit deal, Hamas affiliate Al Resalah reported.
Chants of "The people want a new Schalit," could be heard as Hamas and Fatah supporters waved flags together as part of large scale celebrations.

477 for 1 seems rather odd.
This is about Islam, not Palestine.
The 477 were the first part of the swap. Another 500 and some will be released in two months.
I’d say it’s about both.
That’s even more strange....according to FOX this morning, these Arabs are among the worst of the worst - hardened terrorists.
Who would have thought that rewarding hostage taking would encourage hostage taking? It’s so counter-intuitive.
The next time the Palestinians take an Israeli hostage, the IDF has to cordon off the area and do a house by house search, ripping up floor boards, tearing out walls, until the hostage is returned and kidnappers are in custody.
It’s a 1000 for 1 trade. The first 477 are the beginning.
Israel didn’t negotiate too well on this one.
Maybe with the “We need another Gilad Shalit to kidnap” chants from these subhuman Palestinian species, Israel may rethink the release of the second half of 550 prisoners, and renege on the deal. Now the waiting game begins to see who the first prisoner commits more crimes against Israelis. Oddly similar to the Mexicans crossing our border illegally committing crimes in the US against our people. They get deported and will be back committing more crimes.

A victory for Abu Mazen, Marwan is still in prison so Abbas keeps his job for a while longer.
I disagree. The typical IDF soldier is worth well over 1,000 muzzie camel humpers.
We’ll agree to disagree. These thousand camel humpers will be back murdering and maiming Israelis soon enough.
Of course you’re right...I was being a bit sarcastic, and this certainly does set a bad precedent, but I would still wager the average IDF soldier, or Israeli citizen’s net lifetime contributions to the world at large vastly exceed those of any given 1,000 Pali hummus gargler.
