This checking for weapons seems like a waste of time to me. There are several ways to kill someone with only your hands.
Plastic lock picking tools would seem more effective then a weapon to get into the cockpit.

So the FBI dude thinks because the man is a US citizen that he isn’t a possible terrorist or dry run operative?

Actually, it sounds like he got into an argument with another passenger. Then they got into a screaming match which spread. Then he stomped off to the bathroom where people got suspicious.
He was pissed so came out screaming you’re all going to die and “Allu Akbar” for fun.
This looks like a guy who went over the top trying to scare people.

The second or third generation is being radicalized in many parts of the country, MI, NY and FL being prime areas.
