Mitt Romney's Cyberwar on Rick Perry (an anti-Perry website show Romney is desperate)
National Journal ^ | October 18, 2011 | John Hudson

Posted on 10/18/2011 10:29:29 PM PDT by Sun

Mitt Romney is going negative on Rick Perry, and he's using one of the most tried-and-true methods: the Internet. Today, Romney for President Inc. launched (snip) an anti-Rick Perry website aimed at undermining the former Massachusetts governor's best-funded opponent. snip

The Washington Post shows other anti-Perry Web domain names are being gobbled up snip

While no one is claiming ownership of the anti-Perry domains, The Post's Philip Rucker and T.W. Farnam note that the same day the domain names were purchased, Romney's campaign bought $2,851 worth of domain names at GoDaddy.com, which was the same vendor that sold the anti-Perry domains. snip

Interestingly, there's another campaign that may be gobbling up anti-Perry domains as well: President Obama's.

Well, it's understandable that Romney and Obama would both be using the same tactics, such as anti-Perry websites, as both Romney and Obama are cut from the same cloth.

I'm not even a Perry supporter, but Perry is far better than Romney, and more importantly, what's right is right, and what's wrong is wrong.

btw, I first learned about this on Mark Levin's Tuesday show.

Have any of you ever heard of a presidential candidate having a special ANTI-WEBSITE against their opponent? It's not very classy, and also not very presidential.

If Perry could just string a couple of sentences together, I might get excited about him. The dream act in Texas was a non-starter for me. And Romney’s youtube talks do not exactly have me jumping up and down that he is “now” a conservative.

Romney got his ass handed to him tonight. Fake websites and all the money in the world isn’t gonna save this dope. This evening is the beginning of the end for Mittens.

They have anti candidate radio spots and tv ads. Don’t really see how this is anything but an extension of previous politics.

Still pretty sad. I wonder if any candidate would ever do an old school proper debate instead of this circus show we get on tv.

From the Opening Post article:

“Interestingly, there’s another campaign that may be gobbling up anti-Perry domains as well: President Obama’s.”

It goes well with your tagline. :)

Romney is so much like Obama.

I’m so glad that the other candiates have attacked Romney - it’s about time.

My husband was watching tv, and told me that they showed a clip of the debate, and Romney put his hand on Perry’s shoulder, after Perry criticized Romney. Was this some kind of bully-like threat? I didn’t see it myself, so can’t say.

I agree, Mitt starting taking about 1/100’th of the flack Perry has been taking and he was nearly in tears. Mitt took some massive damage tonight, and the best part is that their is still so much to remind/reveal about Romney that is bad, while every single bad thing about Perry has already been aired.

If Perry wasn't polling in the single digits, I would say he actually might be able to get back into this, but unless Cain stumbles badly, and it would have to be pretty badly, then I think Romney starts drifting down into the mid teens in the polls, while Cain hold steady around at 25%-30%, and Perry might get back up to 10%, but unless Perry drops his support of the tuition thing, I just can't see him getting much traction, unless Cain has a unexpected implosion, like a mistress or something of that nature.

just came across as some metrosexual petting a snarling pit bull to me.

watch the way Mitt walks out of stage with his hands stiff at his side and his shoulders slumped forward, never seen such a beta male, but as soon as he gets to the podium, he turns on his alpha male stick, but he isn't fooling anyone.

Right, it's not but what it is, like you said, it's very desperate. Romney is repulsive - he's a snake in the grass.

Obama and obama, jr - how cute - I think they compare notes.

How about a website comparing their similarities.

The thing that is most important is, Romney has deep internal polling capability and still sees Perry as his greatest threat.

Think about it.......

Romney truly is a rotten, back biting snake!

Rick Perry had one: WashingtonKay.com - all about Kay Bailey Hutchison being an Washington insider and not fit to lead the Great State of Texas.

But before I continue, let me just acknowledge that there are a large number of folks on here who really are worried about illegal immigration. Perry has failed to commiserate with you and hasn't provided enough empathy to you. And he has not adequately explained the fine line he has walked in Texas keeping the issue from reaching a boiling point amongst many different, divergent interests in short, snappy 30-second sound bites with CNN interrogators flogging him in front of millions of people. I feel your pain and offer empathy. Tons of it. I get it.

I have been a Web developer professionally for 15 years. Perry's web site is inferior to Romney's. I would think that it's cheaper, too. I looked at RedState.com's analysis of the Web Services line item expense on his campaign finance report and saw something like $840,000 for the web. And I thought, "My God! $840,000 for a WordPress site? I am bidding too low."

Romney is actively hiring Drupal developers (see job posting). Drupal is superior to Wordpress in enterprise scalability, but much more complex to develop on. There is more backend functionality in Drupal to do cool stuff. Whitehouse.gov is a Drupal site, as is economist.com, AlJazeera.com and etc. Drupal powred the storied Howard Dean campaign in 2004, when Dean made history by proving the Internet can be used to raise lost of cash from smaller donations.

Anyway, I expect that Romney has a leg up. I am not sure what Perry's web strategy is for the future, but right now, it _should_ be less expensive that Romney's.

My The Rick Perry Report is a Drupal site, but it's my own personal hobby project, not an official site in any way. Joe

Yes I saw it when it happened...I think the photo is on Drudge Report.

After several debates in which he talked like a ‘blabbermouth’ over everyone, Romney goes bonkers when Perry did it!

In the other debates, Perry kept to the time constraints and waited to be called upon. He gave up the ‘southern gentleman’ persona tonight and was more aggressive.

I like his new ‘fire in the belly’!

One thing that can’t be discounted is the Cain has zero money and no ground game. He isn’t campaigning in the early states at all. He may be doing well in polls, but the only candidate set up to drop kick Mittens right now is Perry. He has a ton of cash. He can get turned around if he stays focused like he was tonight.

Cain has a few million. You have to remember that Cain didn’t really take off until there was a week or so left in the quarter. I heard him say, that he raised an additional 2 million in the 2 weeks after the reporting period ended, putting him probably at 4 to 5 million current cash on hand.

Not as much as Romney and Perry, but enough to make it to Iowa where once he wins it by double digits, the money will start flowing in like a waterfall.

From the beginning - they should have focused ONLY on mitt. Someone please - kick him to the curb so the bus can go over him once and for all!

I hope so. Rick Santorum was the one who was most effective in attacking Romney on Romneycare.

I didn't think the stupid Romney-Perry bickering helped either one. Perry trying to defend himself on his illegals policy by claiming Romney had illegals mowing his grass was pretty weak.

And I would not have let that jerk Romney put his hand on my shoulder like that while trying to talk down to me.

This is ironic that Cain came out of the ashes so quickly, and it was all based on a few lines from a debate.

In other words, so far, it displays about all the substance of a Chess Tournament; somewhat nonsensical and baseless. Other than the fact that one drops and another takes the lead. For no other reason than a few popular phrases and sound bites.

A truly hard working, hands on Governor who has taken time out from his very demanding job to compete, is ridiculed and condemned, based on the criteria on nothing but hollow words, promises and superficial postulation.

Yes, I saw that and Perry then put his hand up in a back-off sort of way.

When I saw that... I figured BOR will have that blonde on analyzing the body language. *sigh*

It wasn’t a bully like threat, it was Romney getting in Perry’s space, trying to un-nerve him.

It just showed me that Perry had hit a nerve with Romney and Romney wanted to knock Perry off his game.

Cain should be in IA or SC non stop to build a network of people. All reports show him on his book tour all over the western states right now and that he has no people in any of the early states. Perry does and for every dollar Cain is raising right now Mittens and Perry are doubling and tripling.

NH is going to Mittens. It is a lost cause. If Cain doesn’t get IA or SC, he is done. The Big Mo will be gone.
