I swear, I hope the Israelis “chipped” these guys before release and use them as homing beacons for guided missiles.
A large percentage of these guys won’t grow old.
The 1000 released will kill many more than the one they were traded for.
At the human level one cannot help but be horrified at his predicament all these years (you have to imagine every single bad thing that could happen to him did, repeatedly), but at the realpolitikal level, this trade makes no sense at all. Once a game of ‘how many will you trade for him’ was allowed to become legitimate, Israel had already lost.
I don’t understand this move in those terms.

The Palestinians greeted their murderers, killers, terrorists, thieves, the dregs of the Arab world back home where the population is filled with garbage just as bad as those freed.
