(CNSNews.com) -- Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that under the administration’s policy of exercising “prosecutorial discretion” in the enforcement of the immigration laws, her department is currently authorizing some illegal aliens to work in the United States.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the ranking-member of the Senate Judiciary panel, asked Napolitano: “According to the information from your department, some individuals who are given relief will obtain work authorizations. So people with no right to be in the country will be allowed to work here. Is that correct?”

First of all, removing 400,000 per year puts us way behind when there are at least 20 million here. Also, I saw on news last night that private jets are chartered to fly illegals back to Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, etc. We are in really, really bad shape with this cancerous problem. It's costly when they stay and costly to remove 'em, especially when they return again and again.
One thing I'd like Republican candidates to address is this sob story of how our "immigration system separates families." That is a choice that the deported adult makes when they leave their babies behind and they do it all the time to get the free education and all the other free stuff.

Putting an American in prison for a serious crime separates them from their family as well. Do we not punish the guilty?

That’s the argument to make on that one. No way for a lib to counter it.
No candidate is speaking against work permits for illegals. Not any. Ever. You can not GET them to say they are against work permits. Try it. There will be no round ups, no trains.
Now, if we talk about pressing businesses who hire illegals and making businesses accountable for doing so, then we can find some commentary. To some extent doing something like that en masse, and overnight, would have a very negative impact on small businesses and the economy, because that labor may not be easily replaced at the same low wage for at least a period of time. Just askin’.
Yes they can and they will, they will just say any criminal with a family should be confined to house arrest and not incarcerated.
