To quote Jim Morrison, The future’s uncertain, and the end is always near.

They had to revive me 3 times after enduring the “widowmaker”Last thing I remembered hearing was the nurse saying “we’re losing him” All I remember was total blackness and profound peacefulness. And, as others have said, no fear of death.

No better way for a Merrylander to go than to choke on crab.
Better than drowning in Natty Bo, Hon!

He was mostly dead.

I was once almost eaten by an alligator.

I remember my birth (now 53 years ago). But there was no NDE involved. Of course, nobody ever believes me.

I had my second triple bypass on 2 Jan 2008. There were some severe complications, unlike my first. I was in a chemically-induced coma for four days. When I first came to, I thought for sure I was headed for hell. I thought I was being tortured by foreign devils. Turns out there were two Filipino nurses working on me, taking tubes out of my throat, talking in Tagalog-accented English. One of them told me to do something and I answered him in Tagalog. I hadn’t been to the Philippines in over 40 years. The nurses were as shocked as I was.

I know of 2 NDEs. The first was my dad who, from the ceiling, watched the doctor operate on him during heart surgery.

The second was a 2 or 3 year old girl whose parents couldn’t get her out of the house when it was on fire. The fireman carried her out, limp and lifeless from smoke inhalation, and worked on her for quite some time. She finally started breathing again. Years later, when her vocabulary skills were better, she offhandedly told her parents how Jesus had met her with her favorite thing in the world.... cheerios.

I heard about a guy who was a Christian and during a near-death experience saw and experienced nothing. In desperation, he called out to Jesus for help but got no response. That man is now a atheist.

That's nothing. I heard about a guy who was dead and was an agnostic. He had a near-life experience and experienced a WalMart Electronics section, the flat-panel TV wall. He called 411 for help and got the Los Angeles Zoo instead. He became an electrical engineer when he returned to the coffin.

True story.

Abingdon resident Michael Solano describes his "spiritual awakening" after suffering a stroke while nearly choking to death at a crab cake eating contest in Timonium.

“Then I found two talon-like claws made of iron—sharp at the edges—grabbing at my skin,” he continued. “My skin was physically being removed from my body … it was the most excruciating pain that I have ever felt in my entire life.”

Crab cake karma? I'm feeling a bit ill just envisioning the crab cake scarf-o-rama. That just ain't kosher. ~SHUDDER~
