Despite warning signs, Romney declines to reach out to major tea party groups
The Daily Caller (Yahoo) ^ | 10/20/2011 | Will Rahn, Alex Pappas

Two of America’s most active national tea party organizations say former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has made no effort to win them over, despite his apparent need to attract more grassroots support.

“As far as I am aware, we’ve had no contact with Romney’s campaign, nor have any of his representatives reached out,” Mark Meckler, co-founder and national coordinator of Tea Party Patriots, told The Daily Caller.

Meckler, however, acknowledged: “We haven’t had a lot of contact with the candidates in general, though [congresswoman Michele] Bachmann, [businessman Herman] Cain, and [former House Speaker Newt] Gingrich have all spent a lot of time attending and speaking at a variety of local tea party events.”

I can't imagine any TEA Party group wanting to hear from Mitt Romney.

Ouch. Just watched the beginning of Cain’s interview with Piers Morgan. He said he has the most respect for two other candidates: Gingrich (no chance of winning) and Romney. Why should Romney even bother with the tea party if his major opponent according to the polls at this point is ready to endorse him again?

The Tea Party going for Mitt Romney would be like Michelle Obama going for the salad bar.
Ain't gonna happen and stupid to think it could.

Right. He shouldn't act like an adult, be reserved and polite, Presidential acting. Instead he should scream, yell, roll in the mud having a hissy fit. Cain is trying to get the moderates and independents and you are not going to get them by acting like a petulant child.

I don't think you will find Cain really bad mouthing anyone, but besides Cain the pickings are pretty slim..Wouldn't vote for Romney under any conditions, but would vote conservative down ballot...Gingrich has too much flip flop political baggage, and was gung ho on Skuzzy fuzzy or what ever that womans name was that was running for some position and she was a flaming lib. He also backed Myers which was a liberal woman that worked in Bush's white house and another flaming lib. But it did end up getting us 2 good guys on the supreme court..

Gingrich sounds good but his actions in the past betrayed any conservative leaning he might have had. Talk is cheap in his case, finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing...Perry is just as bad as Romney he is also a big NO for me...

Cain's liking those 2 is not a problem for me...they may in person be very likable fellows...but not for me...

Romney has about as much change of getting the tea party voters as I have of getting rid of all my wrinkles at the age of 72. It ain't gonna happen......:O)

Mitt-Witt 'reaching out' to the Tea Party would be like the e.coli bacteria reaching out to an all-you-can-eat buffet, you know a bunch of people are going to end up puking.

On the “Meet the Candidate” [extended] segment of Bret Baier’s Special Report program - Oct 19, 2011 - (guest Rick Santorum) the panel discussed with Rick Santorum his 2008 endorsement of Mitt Romney. (they showed a clip and then discussed it)

Well of Santorum endorses him this time I guess Romney might pick up 2 votes. Personally I don’t have a big problem with Santorum, he just doesn’t have a chance. If he were my candidate and told me he was endorsing Romney I’d be disappointed, and Romney STILL would not get my vote.

Romney uses FAKE Tea Parties. Romney is fake, too.

FLASHBACK:

Fake-badge Mitt Romney and Bill Hudak
are now linked to the creation
of fake Tea Partys, including the very one
which attacked Gov. Palin from Texas
(see post 11)

He said he has the most respect for two other candidates:

Making a big leap for a lurker now aren't you? Since when is it an endorsement when one man respects another? The biggest thing you forget is that respect once gained can also be lost. Don't lose yours by trying this silly childish tact.

We saw what happens when two men lose respect for each other when engaged in a process that demands they act like grownups when discussing our futures in the Santorum/Romney/Perry schoolyard slip fighting we saw going on in Vegas.

Let's just have a bucketload more of that crap to keep us from discussing really important stuff like taxes, border security, rules of engagement in battles, education, and on and on. All while the snot-nosed "moderator" standing aside snickering at the childish exchanges.

So tell me again, what in the hell is so wrong with personal respect, especially when it is our futures these fools are f'in with?

Santorum has the lingering problem of having endorsed Arlen Spector and Mitt Romney, which probably has a lot to do with his "attacks" on Mitt (to un-hook from that earlier endorsement) and Perry (to shore up those conservative credentials).

Yes, Netizen, Santorum explained that his choices were Romney, Huckabee and McCain and that he didn’t see Huckabee having a chance and that he had worked with McCain in the Senate, and that Romney was more *conservative* than McCain, in his opinion. Hence, his endorsement of Romney.

Whack McCain.

I suspect Senator Jim DeMint drew the same conclusion. McCain doesn’t have all that many conservative friends in the Senate.

....McCain doesn’t have all that many conservative friends in the Senate.

He didn't have many in Texas either when he was fundraising in the primary.

IMO if you don’t think Romney’s operatives put Cain up to run, you’re the fool.

But I know you don’t see that and don’t want to hear about it either.

(Oh, and I’m not a Perry backer either.)

No way Santorum endorses anybody until after the convention.
