More women marrying much older men for added security

Young men in Japan facing difficulties landing full-time jobs in these tough economic times are also struggling to find women to marry.
Single women say they prefer older men for marriage because they are more mature, are confident in making decisions?and offer financial security.
Recent celebrity marriages involving much younger spouses have been in the news. But a small party one Friday evening in Tokyo's Ginza district for 10 people seeking marriage partners show the trend is spreading among ordinary Japanese.
The five women who attended were between 22 and 28 while the five men were between 35 and 48.
The age difference was obvious. The women wore miniskirts and had on fake eyelashes that clearly showed off their youth. The men wore attire that showed they put some thought into their choices.
One of the participants, Yumika Masuko, a 24-year-old dance instructor, said the men she knew who were of the same age appeared "childish" and not marriage material.

That helps. It would be neat if there was a study on it. I’m just referring to our culture and how typical American women are simply told by their relatives, and especially friends, to “dump the jerk”, when bumps are hit on the road.
Combine that with courts nearly always favoring the women, and it makes it easy to see why men wait so long to get married (if they get married at all).

AND other men are shocked, I tell ya SHOCKED, when the broad gets impatient, divorces the guy and takes him for everything.
To make a broad generalization, foreign men tend to both act like men, and gentlemen: simple things like holding a door open or applying the “ladies first” rule. IMHO.

Thanks...I never get a comment like that when I go after Perry (LOL). Anyway, I picked up on that listening to Dr. Laura - where female callers would ask her what to do, when their friends are telling them to end the marriage. Naturally, Laura does what she can to help hold it together (within limits, of course - such as adultery - sometimes, physical abuse - always, etc.).

Probably because I’m not a Perry supporter!
But do understand that sometimes, what goes around comes around. I knew a woman that divorced her husband because he was “boring”. A year later she was horrified that he was taking her children to biker rallies.
He was “boring” because he was trying to be a good husband and father. She ended up without control of what he did and it drove her nuts.

Maybe he knows that, and is okay with it.
Maybe the ego trip is not because he thinks he is so attractive that he can get a young, beautiful woman.
Maybe he’s on an ego trip because his money and power allow him to nail beautiful women who would really rather be with someone else, and deprive those younger men of the company of said beautiful women.
Maybe he’s thinking “Sure, you wouldn’t even look at me when I was young, attractive, and struggling to get ahead, but now that you’re after my money, I can take my pound of flesh. Oh, the humiliations and fear-factor-style horrors I’m going to exact, my pretty. How does this cold, dry claw feel on your skin, you viper?”
Maybe he’s an old fool, and maybe he hears the death wind howling and is just getting what he can before the grave claims him.

I agree that no-fault divorce is a very bad thing, but can you explain how women, who were an even smaller minority of legislators at the relevant time, enacted it into law in all 50 states?

Okay, let’s keep things clear, now. Before, we were talking about “responsible for,” not “enacted.”

Of the feminists of his day, Mark Twain remarked that he didn’t mind if they wanted to be equal to men, but he couldn’t understand why they wanted to give up all that power.
Women have always exercised a great deal of influence over events, and that influence was no less real for having been indirect. Bringing up the boys and arm-twisting the husbands has been shown to be quite effective.
If you want to talk about “enacted,” I would ask how many black congressmen and senators voted for the civil rights acts in 1866, 1871, 1875, 1957, 1960, 1964, 1968, and 1991? It was a white majority that enacted those bills, and in the same way, it was feminists who have created today’s legal climate.
Of course, they often had to get the cooperation of men, but it was their agenda all the same, and the men who cooperated were traitors against the human race.
In Japan, a single woman is a “Christmas cookie” - i.e., useless and stale - when she hits thirty.
Meanwhile, older men have had mistresses, at least, for donkey’s years.
Let me see if I understand you. Legislatures composed overwhelmingly of men, elected by populations that were (let us suppose) divided 50/50 between the sexes, nonetheless have produced legislation for which women are responsible. Courts composed overwhelmingly of men have produced decisions for which women are responsible.
I’m missing the operative principle that conveys this incredible power over law-making and interpretation ... given that I can’t even get my husband and sons to put their clean laundry in their drawers.
Are you saying that the men in power have done all these erroneous things simply because they imagine that, in some way, it might get them consequence-free sex? And yet, that is *still* women’s responsibility?
It's not exactly prostitution --it's a kind of mistress arrangement, a little like the, "mutually beneficial relationships" that you now see advertised on Craigslist so often.
Ummm...a lot of women put off marriage, then later they're not pursued, and then it's easiest to simply scream about all J mean being, "grass eaters".
Naw a lot of the J women who pass on a young man and go after the older guy are simply being PAID, and it is a pattern as old as the hills --sometimes the payment comes in the form of clothes, handbags, and vacations, but often it's actual cash, with some type of very good excuse added, for manners.
