Clinton on Qaddafi: "We came, we saw, he died"
cbsnews ^ | October 20, 2011 | staff

Posted on 10/21/2011 6:01:54 AM PDT by BarnacleCenturion

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton shared a laugh with a television news reporter moments after hearing deposed Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi had been killed.

"We came, we saw, he died," she joked when told of news reports of Qaddafi's death by an aide in between formal interviews.

Clinton was in Tripoli earlier this week for talks with leaders of Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC).

The reporter asked if Qaddafi's death had anything to do with her surprise visit to show support for the Libyan people.

"No," she replied, before rolling her eyes and saying "I'm sure it did" with a chuckle.

I'm imagining how the U.S. media would have reacted to, say, Condoleeza Rice making comments like that about Saddam Hussein while George W Bush was president.

The images aren't pretty. I wonder what their responses will be to this.

Is this woman losing it, or is this just arrogance of power? How fast are the Dems backing away from taking credit for Gaddafi's death. This was not a neat clean operation by a SEAL Team, or even a judicial process resulting in a botched hanging. This was a brutal murder by an angry mob. Before you all jump on me I could care less how he died, he was a dictator. But Hillary is so fast to take credit lets see how fast she backs off. BY the way while the Dems are trying to cut military benefits and retiree pensions, Hillary promised Billions to the HTC.

While I’m sure that Ms. Clinton meant it as some kind of a joke, that kind of humor is unbecoming a Secretary of State. Everybody knew that the US/Nato air war was ultimately targeting Khaddafi, yet in accordance with international norms they wouldn’t admit it. This ‘joke’ put the Truth out there for all to see. Other nations will take notice.

I remember in the 1970s the hysteria from the NYTimes, Wash. Post, and other mouth organs of the Left over the CIA’s plot to kill the phony thief Castro (an avowed enemy of the United States who tried to convince the horrified Russian military to do a “first strike” with nukes from Cuba, killing millions of Americans). The secretary of state is hysterical with glee over dead pictures of some jerk far away (that the US may have had a role in killing) and the same outfits say nothing. Its the same thing with campaign finance — where were Common Cause and Fred Wertheimer when Obama declined their treasured public financing and took billions from Wall Street and unknown donors while McCain made do on the limited public funding? Guantanamo - the left had hysterics over waterboarding mass murderers to find out wheter they would strike next; they remained alive, just a little wet. But they say NOTHING about knocking them off by the thousands by drones from the sky.

At the end of the day, this Gaddafi murder is not going to go down well for either Obama, Clinton and the Democrat Party. Gaddafi, low life murderer that he was, would have been worth tons more taken alive. In fact, he was captured alive and then murdered, either by design or by crazed Muslim terrorists who feared what an alive Gaddafi in captivity would reveal. The same goes for the killing of OBL. Our special forces could have just as well wounded OBL and captured him alive. Methinks, the old adage applies here. Dead men speak no tales!!! When I look back at the GW Bush mantra of nabbing KSM & Saddam Hussein alive for information feed and the Obama mantra of killing OBL & Gaddafi so they would not talk, I get nervous from head to toe!!! Shades of Hitler and Stalin, kill all the enemies that can devulge your real purposes!!! Winston Churchill nixed an active effort to kill Hitler, because he was worried that making Hitler a victim of British agent slaughter would only enrage the Greman public. So....the really serious attempts at taking Hitler out came from inside the German military. America, stay vigilant and beware, Obama is not in our corner, IMHO!!! Libya will go to the Muslim Brotherhood just as Egypt has. There is no democracy in the Middle East other then Israel. And....as soon as our military departs Iraq, Iran will move in and create a slave state for its greater use and purpose. And....you folks will find that “our” POTUS Obama has rendered quite loyal service and devotion to the enemies of these United States!!!

I very much agree. I don’t understand why anyone might be surprised at what springs forth from Hillary. The content of her character is quite evident at times...emerging from her mouth. She is a true leftist enamored of Alinsky and horribly Off-the-mark in her basic philosophy of life.

I have no illusions about the fact that Muammar el-Qaddafi was a BAD GUY. However, I found the first-hand observations about Libya made by former British MI5 Agent Annie Machon at ChicagoNow.com quite interesting;

QUOTE They’ve had free education, free health, they could study abroad. When they got married they got a certain amount of money. So they were rather the envy of many other citizens of African countries. Now, of course, since NATO’s humanitarian intervention the infrastructure of their country has been bombed back to the Stone Age. They will not have the same quality of life. Women probably will not have the same degree of emancipation under any new transitional government. The national wealth is probably going to be siphoned off by Western corporations. Perhaps the standard of living in Libya might have been slightly higher than it perhaps is now in America and the UK with the recession, UNQUOTE she said.

What a jerk.

For what it is worth, there is no evidence that Ceasar ever said anything like those words. During a triumph parade in Rome, an honor usually accorded a successful military leader, in this case celebrating his Gaullic conquest, one of the participants had a float with the legend VENI, VEDI, VICI which has been a Latin class staple for introducing the Latin past tense ever since.

Hillary's use of it here is insensitive, tasteless, boastful and inaccurate. Caesar took the field and undertook the perils of combat. He let others do the boasting for him. She sat back in Washington and sent in people whose culture and values she abhors to the "dirty work" for her. She is dispicable.

“Libya will go to the Muslim Brotherhood just as Egypt has.”

Well said. The ultimate aim of the Muslim president Obama and his leftist minions is the continued rise of the Muslim Brotherhood, especially in Africa. Clearing out these dictators opens the gate wide for the Brotherhood, and Obama knows it.

African Christians, beware!! Look to the Coptic Christians plight in Egypt and be forwarned. Also African Jews (are there many even left?) are in the target zone, both groups being infidels in the eyes of the Islamists.

Democracy??? in the countries hosting the Muslim Brotherhood? - is this some kind of joke? Sadly, not.
