Vet cuts down Illegal Mexican flag flying above U.S. Flag

Don't know how to embed the video, but it warms the heart to see a Viet Nam Vet still fighting for his country.

Best down load it before the commies pull it.

The American Revolution is something like over 200 years old, does that diminish it any?

...was about 33 miles from the border, used to hire a cab (bribe) to drive into Laos to go swimming...until we found out about a bounty on us.

God Bless this man. When are more people going to stand up for this country. Or have the masses been beaten down in to submission.

In order to do business in Laos in the 50s and early 60s, you had to have a royal connection. My dad was a purchasing officer for the Army and a lodge buddy knew the King and his brother.

The buddy was a sales rep for International Paper and was convinced that at the rate the US was using paper in Asia, (everything was in triplicate) that a paper mill could be a money maker. The fall back was the Philippines and we damned near moved there when the Laos deal crapped out.
I made six crossings on MSTS ships from Seattle to Yokohama and back, 1951-1961.

Frankly, nobody in this incident behaved very well and nobody should be applauded.

The owner and/or manager of the restaurant should have learned the rules for properly displaying the flags of two nations in front of his business.

In the United States they are flown on two separate poles of equal height. The flag of the United States takes the position of honor, which is it's own right (which would be the viewer left). If only one pole is available, then only the United States flag should be flown. You never fly the flags of two nations together on the same pole, except in time of war as a sign of conquest. Otherwise it is considered an insult.

The vet in question (assuming he is a real vet and not a publicity hound) should have asked to speak to the manager of the restaurant, and politely informed him that his business was effectively insulting the flag of the United States. Then simply asked him to remove the Mexican flag at least until he had another pole to fly it from separately.

He should not have vandalized another person's property but cutting the flag down instead of lowering it and removing the flags. And he should not have walked off with a US flag he did not own.

The TV station itself should have explained the situation to the restaurant, instead of camping out and waiting for a hot head to create good video for TV.

A textbook example of how NOT to resolve a situation.

FYI, the below picture shows an appropriate time to display the flags of two nations on a single pole:

Captain Daniel V. Gallery, on the conning tower of the Kriegsmarine submarine U-505 shortly after her capture by US Navy Task Group 22.5 on June 4th, 1944.

My flag flies under no flag, especially the flag of the UN (which I would trample rather than fly).

The UN is a subversive organization on American soil AFAIC.

I could not disagree with you more! The Vet is to be applauded.

God deliver us from pusillanimous milk-toasts.

By the way, I read one of Dan Gallery's books. :)

"God deliver us from pusillanimous milk-toasts."

Ok, enough already! I understand that sometimes folks here change the spelling of words (see "series" and "hugh") intentionally to garner the occasional grin, but I am beginning to wonder whether people here truly understand that this word is actually spelled M-I-L-Q-U-E-T-O-A-S-T.

I understand and refuse to use the French spelling. LOL. In fact use of the original splling makes one a milk-toast. LOL.

I read years ago that the flag of the UN is permitted to fly higher than the flag of the USA. I just read that the flag of the USA NEVER flies below that of the UN. I stand corrected on that.

Personaly, I would NEVER allow my flag to fly under ANY other flag. Far too much blood has been lost defending it.
