"Governor Rick Perry has always championed the pro-life cause, tirelessly advocating for the sanctity of innocent human life in numerous ways," Texas Right to Life executive director Elizabeth Graham tells LifeNews.com.

To clarify my position, I am against ALL illegal aliens obtaining in state tuition in any form. This applies even if their parents birthed them in America.

In my book illegal means illegal. No exceptions.

That is a major drawback to the Cain canidacy that his devotees will not acknowledge and do not dare to look at. He has no record on advancing legislation, appointing nominees, nothing. That’s a little unsettling to me.

There are plenty of politicians who have advanced legislation. One example is Obama and his health care bill...aka Obamacare.
Being a career politician is no virtue in my book

Abortion is too important to try to use for political advantge. We should be presenting a unified front against abortion.

I stand in agreement with you

That was identical to what bill clintoon said wasn’t it.

If by "identical", you mean "not at all the same", yes.

Recorded before Perry's campaign got into trouble, here is the Director of Texas Right to Life in an audio radio interview about Rick Perry's record on pro life issues (opens in a new window).

Here’s what my friends who live in Texas tell me.

The idea wasn’t pushed by Perry.

The in-state tuition was passed with a veto proof majority in the Texas House and only 4 dissenting votes in the Senate because the people of TX, who are 40% of Hispanic heritage, wanted the program.

Perry’s response has been that the people of Texas wanted it and as Governor he listened to their voice through their elected representatives. Ten other US states also give in-state tuition. Most of the TX illegals are going to Community Colleges. With millions of college students in TX, just 16,000 have applied for the instate tuition program. They are not preventing other Texans from attending college.

These students must have graduated from TX high schools and met a residency requirement. Remember their tuition is not free and the people of TX felt it was better to give these young people an opportunity for higher education and possibility of a successful career rather than having them be a burden on the taxpayers.
