Texas governor meeting Friday with Washington insiders after big fundraising dropoff.
By Reid Wilson and Peter Bell
Texas Gov. Rick Perry kicked off his presidential campaign with an aggressive fundraising schedule that quickly made him a front-runner for the Republican nomination. But reports his campaign filed with the Federal Election Commission show that his ability to attract big money fell off steeply in Septemberperhaps not coincidentallyat the same time a series of rocky debate performances threatened his early front-runner status.
As Perry arrives on Friday in Washington for a private meeting with K Street insiders, the question is whether he can convince the smart money that his campaign is worth an investment.

Wow, if Perry is having sudden money trouble, then Cain has no hope at all, after all: no organization, no big donors, no streams of cash flowing in, he won’t even make it to Iowa, don’t ya know it? ;)
On the Texas campaign trail, gubernatorial candidate Perry told Texas voters over and over again.....if they reelected him governor, he would not run for president.
Yet, AT THE SAME TIME conman Perry was flim-flamming trusting conning Texas voters, Perry’s super-pac raised $55 million——precisely to finance a presidential run.
Perry entered the presidential race with three PACs (that we know of-—could be many many more)-—teeming with millions and millions of dollars to run a prez campaign.
However, he ran into stiff opposition when he slapped down voters who disagree with in-state tuition -—calling them heartless. It’s been all downhill for Perry since then.
BACKSTORY Perry runs the govt of Texas as a personal cash machine. One campign contributor even got his own govt regulatory agency......for a price. Merck took care of Perry after he issued that EO to medicate little girls’ genitals.
When Perry speaks, it’s always safer to ignore him.
CASE IN POINT: Perry says he’s pro-life, anti-gay, insists he’s a “real conservative.” Yet Perry proudly endorsed Rooty Giuliani in 2008. Giuli is radically pro-abort, contributes to PP, was guest speaker at NARAL........When he dumped his wife, Rooty lived with a gay couple, marched in gay parades under the Man-Boy Lovers banner.
Then-Mayor Rooty openly attended official duties with his mistress-—and even wanted to kick his kids out on the street and move the slut into the governor’s mansion.
Ignore what Perry says——watch what he does.
Mittens is the problem here.
K street insiders will probably give all their insider money to Romney.
But on the other hand... I’m giving my money to Cain !
OMG, ytou ARE sharp-—amazing how you “get it” (/snix).
You and me both brother! Everything I can spare, is going into the coal car of the CAIN TRAIN! :)
The FEC should rigorously scrutinize Perry’s reports——might be people listed who do not even know they donated to Perry.
It’s amazing how Perry’s fund-raising always places him first——watta coincidence. Especially for a guy who bombed in debates, slapped down potential donors, whose only presidential platform to date is “vote for me, I’m the greatest.”
Must be people dying for Sharia Law courts, in-state tuition, like Perry put in Texas———and open borders and bi-national Mexico/US health insurance like Perry’s supported.
Propoganda piece:
Perry cunningly manipulated the Iowa caucus vote---and did not even enter the contest. He got a pathetic 700-800 write ins while the winners who spent time and money there got 4000 votes.
That ploy was supposed to put Perry over the top. And he did become front-runner----until the debates.
Perry went downhill faster than an Olympic skier. It's one for the political history books, for sure.
Perry is not my guy, to say the least. But I pray he can hang on long enough to destroy Mittens.
“It’s one for the political history books, for sure.”
Whether he’ll be known as the “RMS Ricktannic” or the Rickdenburg is TBD. Either way, he’ll be as forgotten as Barry’s college records.
If K Streeters belive this cock and bull story from La Raza Rick, they'll believe anything.
Rick actually believes he can snow K Street like he has Texas?
Like K Street does not know Ricky came into the race with three PACS teeming with money----thanks to Rick's running the state like it was his personal cash machine.
Perry is still leading most candidates. They ALL saw a drop-off. Perry's as a percentage is no worse than anyone else. And the gross inflow is much higher than most.
What you people need to look at is the color BLUE in that graph.
That last week of the blue was directly after the Florida Straw poll. It’s been three weeks since then and I’ll bet dollars to donuts that it’s still going up.
The way he’s run his cockamamie campaign-—I’d say he’s down as “Wrong-Way Corrigan.”
ROTFLOL.
I know you don’t like Perry, but I do think that he’s the best shot to make sure we don’t end up signing on to the UN Small Arms Treaty. I like that Perry talked about defunding the UN.
Serious question. What has Cain said about the UN, and the Small Arms Treaty. I know he’s said he’s Pro 2nd Amendment, but when I’ve searched for his UN stance, I haven’t found anything.
I love that Perry talked about de-funding that horrible and useless and expensive organization.

Otherwise, they're just heartless.

Politically, Bradley considers himself a centrist, although he has also described himself as “a neocon guy” who was “dead certain about the rightness” of invading Iraq. In the 2008 U.S. presidential primaries he donated $4,300 to Hillary Clinton and $2,300 to Barack Obama and to Mitt Romney.
Romnuts hit piece.
LOL. I wanted to say, that i appreciate your commentary about his pledge not to run, that so many have ignored or forgotten. I certainly have not. Thanks for that post!

Every Perry thread needs a shootin pic.
New at this? In October 2004, Dean had the lead. He’d already lost the first primary by the time of his scream.
Apples and oranges.
True. We are still at an earlier phase than the 04 Dem model. Perry could still pull this out (it horrifies me to say).
No, but apparently you are.
I dont care where Dean was in October of 2004.
The graph I posted is dated 2/4/2004 and it reflects Deans plummet that began after the scream which was 1/19/2004, or less than 1-month prior. Moreover, it is similar to the current graph highlighting La Raza Rick Perrys fall the result of his calling conservatives 'heartless'. You might have curbed your attitude just long enough to notice that. Then again, maybe youre just not bright enough to get it. Smart money's on the latter.
And one of these.
So you don’t see how October 2003 (NOT four, genius) is more comparable to October 2011 than it would be to February 2012?
Oh Ricky you're so fine
you're so fine you blow my mind
Hey, Ricky!
Cain is polling ahead of Romney and at this point he is the only man standing between Romney and the Republican nomination. He needs our support or or we will have a Republican nominee named Mitt.
January 19, 2004 Dean places third in the Iowa Caucus and delivers the infamous “Dean Scream” speech
AFTER the caucus where he finished THIRD. And the polls immediately beofre the Iowa caucus (which hasn’t happened for this election year yet) were accurate for the most part. He was ahead in the polls by miles there at this point in 2003.
IOW, your parallel holds if you consider Cain or Romney to be some GOP equivalent of Howard Dean.
I understand the situation, I just don’t approve of the nastiness.
I know I am on solid ground with my views and I point to this as proof.
Cheers.
Yes, and this Romneybot’s goal was to have Rick Perry attacked on cue by non-Romney supporters. It worked here.
I see you crawled out of the woodwork again, trash, and smearing, with lies as usual.
I can’t imagine that any GOP candidate would want you for a supporter, the way you insult and trash people.
You are telling one lie after another on this thread with your long winded rants. You have no credibility. How much are you being paid to slime and smear Governor Perry?
I see you are tag teaming with Liz the slime and smear Queen. Too bad you can’t state opinions without insults and trash.
You are spreading lies again.
Not really. You support Cain, well that is your choice. He has been making some serious gaffes, but he has been let off scott free. I will be supporting Perry, as I think he is the best choice.
Yes, you are correct. If Perry is so far down in the polls and supposedly on his last leg, why is he being so viciously attacked on Free Republic and other conservative sites?
Cains still in third for states.
Perry: 18
LA - AL - TN - IN - KY - MO
OK - KA - ND - SD - ID - MT
NM - AZ - CO - AR - MS - AK
Romney: 17
CA - WA - OR - UT - WY - WI
MI - PA - MD - DE - RI - NY
CT - NH - VT - ME - MA
Cain: 13
Cain needs just 4 states, (TN, IN, KY and WY) to take the lead.
You can only keep up the lie for so long before someone calls you on it. Consider yourself “Called”.
Not to mention that Perry has been taking in about 4 times as many dollars in donations compared to Cain, in the last week.
