San Diego 'Occupy' protest shuts down bank branch

Occupy Wall Street protesters in San Diego caused a downtown bank branch to shut down Thursday afternoon.

The San Diego Union-Tribune says several dozen protesters sat down in front of a Bank of America branch, causing the bank to close early at 1:30 p.m.

Access to ATMs were still allowed though.

"It's not really a Bank of America thing," 26-year-old Michael Basillas told the Union-Tribune. "It's much more of a symbol, one of many banks that screw people over all the time."

The Union-Tribune reports that there were about eight police officers watching over the 30 to 40 demonstrators as they yelled through a bullhorn, "We are the 99 percent!"

Police say the demonstrators never entered the bank and no arrests were made.

The demonstration is one of several around the country over bank bailouts and economic disparities.

I see very little anger at those who bailed out the banks with our money. ...which is where it should be directed. But that would lead straight to Obama, and the young 'bots don't want to go there.

I’m sorry. somebody forgot to take the trash off the sidewalk..

Being civil will solve nothing .. the left could care less who they offend or affect and look for confrontations .. and breed chaos wherever they are allowed to ‘nest&roost’..

Where are the street sweepers and jet blow dryers cleaning up the streets and sidewalks when ya need ‘em?

When did 99 percent of the American people ever vote for these 30-40 demonstrators? Because I never heard anything about it.

99% of the folks THEY call the 99% are too busy working and getting on with their lives rather than standing around and yelling.

Exactly. Banks are a business and they have a right to make money.

many banks that screw people over all the time.”

The administration has taught them well. Here we have a young man who wants to borrow money, he has the necessary information to support the loan so the bank lends him the money. Sounds like this young man just got screwed because the bank told him he has to pay the loan back! This is the mush heads that the government education system has spit out into the streets and the Obama administration has nurtured and caressed to later be used as recrutes for his national security force

No matter what you think of this bank, everyone single one of those protesters should've been arrested.
