(CNN) -- Saudi Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has died, a State Department official told CNN on Friday.
There were no more immediate details about his death.

Prince Nayef was Interior Minister in the early 80s. He issued a proclamation forbidding the Belgians from hosting evening Masses in the courtyard of their embassy.
The 83-year-old, who was heir to the Saudi throne, had suffered various health issues in recent years and had been treated for cancer at a New York hospital in 2009.
According to the BBC he is believed to have been in New York City when he passed away yesterday.
A separate report said his plane was preparing to leave JFK airport to take the body home.

Correct, and I am certain the Saudis knew this was coming. The Crow Prince’s death did not capture them by surprise.

Well, it's sure not going to help any as far as I can see.
I’m worried about what Iran will do. The U.S. has shown itself to be an unreliable ally in the Middle East, we are taking our combat troops out of Iraq, and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister and heir apparent is now dead. They must be celebrating in Teheran.
We’ll invite him over for some Purim pastries, and promise to only use O+ in the batter.
