Someone reminded us of this the other day:

Under our current system, approx. 22% of the sales price of goods is hidden taxes.

So under the current system, people under the poverty level DO pay taxes on purchases, but that tax is hidden.

Under Cain’s proposal, that hidden tax is supposed to go away (mostly).

So instead of the 22% hidden tax, they would be paying a 9% visible sales tax.

Somebody posted a good online calculator for this stuff the other day. Unfortunately I didn’t bookmark it, so I can’t find it now. :-(

That's not Perry's border security plan and you know it.

Are you saying Perry did not support the "dream" act?

Are you saying that Perry did not address La Raza?

Are you saying that Perry did not say he was for a "path to citizenship"?

That’s a start.

Indeed. It's chump change. We need a balanced budget and $600 billion/year for 10 years is not going to cut it.

What do you want?
A balanced budget.
When do you want it?
I want it now.

Not true But If so I guess they are both completely unacceptable. I guess Newt is the only answer.

Sorry. Cain supports the 2nd Amendment but does agree with justices Thomas Alito, Scalia and others that the States can put reasonable restrictions on firearms including restricting ownership by felons and regulating permits to carry. This is also what Perry believes and also what Gingrich believes.

If you're looking for a candidate who doesn't believe the States have the right to put reasonable restrictions on firearms, you will have to look beyond anyone who is now running.

Spoken like a business man who knows the virtues of down sizing when the company is buried in debt and running in the red. A smaller federal government will get America back on the track of greatness.

In post#33 you said: Perry never ever has been for amnesty and the only one accusing him of it is Romney.

The only one accusing him of it is Romney? Really? Clearly, that is a lie as I provided you with a quote right from La Raza Rick Perry himself. So trying to drag Palin into it was incredibly weak, even for you, as was your false claim that Romney is the only one saying it.

La Raza Rick Perry, the pro-ILLEGAL alien candidate, is running for POTUS and should he manage to pull his campaign out of the gutter and get elected he would be in a position to implement amnesty. No thanks.

Nice try though.

I'm saying that's not Perry's border security plan Mitt. Perry has done some things I don't like but he is by far the most experienced executive running in all aspects. He doesn't tell you what you want to hear . He's honest. He's been a great governor. You want me to back a speech giver who is a preacher at aliberal black church in Atlanta who believes governments job is to equalize things. He tells you what you want to hear and back tracks when he gets in trouble. Perry is proven. Cain is a talker and his outlandish claims of what he will do are ridiculous and I thought republicans were less susceptible to that crap.

Perry is proven.

This is true. Since he has entered the race, he has proven to almost everyone that he is a terrible candidate. He got to the bottom of the polls the old fashioned way, he earned it.

Six trillion is a good start, but Cain will need both the house and senate to have his back.

Palin said she was against deportation and for a path to citizenship. Cain is an inexperienced talker who tells you what you want to hear while working and tithing for and to a church who believes in social justice and invites Jesse Jackson to speak there. It would not surprise me if Cain voted for Obama. I hope someone asks him because I want to look in his eyes and see if they can convince me. When you attend a church like that and hang around with people who believe in social justice teachings you are suspect in my book. When you promote regions for special government treatment because they are African American ( his words) you are a suspect republican

Illegals do not get in state tuition. Their children do if the have graduated from a Texas highschool with qualifying grades and have lived in Texas for 3 years and are going after their citizenship, they pay in state fares.

If the children weren't born here, they're illegals, too. The children of illegals can be illegals. Perry is treating them as citizens -- that's why many people are upset.

How can you not understand that?

He's proven he's a Texas local boy who has no use for DC. He's proven he doesn't like people lying about him. He's proven he has more experience from his time serving as a Captain In the Air Force to running the 13 th largest economy in the world that he is the man for the job. Not the Godfather of speechifying

Your Religious bigotry is quite offensive. Perry approved a noted anti-Catholic bigot, who he was quite familiar with, to introduce him at a political convention. To your way of thinking, no Catholic should even consider voting for Perry.

I do understand that but we've paid for their schooling for years and now since we can't deport we have to decide what to do with them. If they can qualify grades wise they can pay in state tuition most of which is at community college level. I understand it's hard if you don't have many illegals in your state but we do because we have a 1200 mile border the government won't secure. It's too bad Romney was able to make people think they got free college or 100 thousand grant. If it makes you feel better illegals from Arizona pay out of state tuition and Texas illegals who go to Michigan pay out of state.. I don't like the law but I understand it.

Is that all you've got?! lol!

You said La Raza Rick wasn't for amnesty and that Romney was the only one saying it. You do remember that, don't you normy?

I proved you lied and that's all you've got?!

You're disappointing me normy. I thought you were better than that. Not sure why but I did.

Cain has said he is for the LEGAL path to citizenship that already exists. La Raza Rick Perry (in his own words, now...not Romney's) has said 'on the record' that he is for a path to citizenship" for the ILLEGALS who are already here.

It is incredibly weak for you to make suppositions about Cain and his church and irrelevant references to others who aren't even presidential candidates. I guess trying to defend the indefensible is turning out to be harder than you thought, eh? :-)

You proved nothing. You should put you effort into something else. Cain's church is huge. You know it and you are scared. Social justice is a disgusting theme for conservatives. If perry is for a path to citizenship like Palin then I will bet you Cain is too. The funny thing is he never has to answer it because you have emotionally invested your heart into him. He is what you want him to be. He spouts crazy themes and back tracks but you think it's ok cause it's “Herman”’. You were one of those Palin people who thought she would save us and now it's Cain who will save us. See you at the finish line as you steam in your impotent rage.

People who live in states that currently DO have sales tax actually SAVE more money under Cain’s proposed plan than people living in states with no sales tax.

Cost to purchase a $100 item in a state with no State sales tax:

Current cost of item: $100.00
Under Cain’s proposed plan: $90.12
Savings: $9.88

Cost to purchase a $100 item in a state with 8% State sales tax:

Current cost of item: $108.00
Under Cain’s proposed plan: $96.73
Savings: $11.27

You proved nothing.

I proved that Perry is for amnesty and that Romney is not the only one saying it. Did you really fail to comprehend that, normy?

You should put you effort into something else. Cain's church is huge. You know it and you are scared.

You're lying again normy. I've never given Cain's church much thought and I've certainly never been scared by it.

If perry is for a path to citizenship like Palin then I will bet you Cain is too.

If?! You read the words from his own mouth. There is no "if". La Raza Rick said he is for a "path to citizenship". You can't deny that w/o looking like a fool and you surely can't negate it by bringing other people who aren't even running into the mix. You only make yourself look more foolish and desperate when you do.

The funny thing is he never has to answer it because you have emotionally invested your heart into him.

Emotionally? Really? Do you have any idea how insane you make yourself sound when you tell someone what they are feeling? No, I can see you don't. You have no idea how I feel "emotionally" and you just embarrass yourself when you say you do.

He is what you want him to be.

Of course he is. That is because we are both conservatives. And I would imagine La Raza Rick Perry is what you want him to be -- a pro-ILLEGAL alien, crony capitalist.

He spouts crazy themes and back tracks but you think it's ok cause it's “Herman”’.

Spouting crazy themes is what Perry does when he tries and fails to defend his pro-ILLEGAL alien record; it's why he's dropped like a rock and his campaign is in the gutter. There's no selling his pro-ILLEGAL alien theme to real conservatives and he certainly isn't going to do so by calling us heartless.

You were one of those Palin people who thought she would save us and now it's Cain who will save us.

You're telling lies again normy. I would ask you to provide a single post or quote of mine wherein I have ever supported Palin for POTUS but it would be an exercise in futility as I know it doesn't exist. I liked her right up until she endorsed Juan McStain for reelection, but I never supported her for POTUS. So once again you've made a fool of yourself by making statements you cannot support.

>I>See you at the finish line as you steam in your impotent rage.

Impotent? Impotent is making claims that Perry is not for amnesty only to have his own words thrown in your face. Impotent is trying in vain to defend the indefensible by dragging non-candidates into the debate. Impotent is making wild-eyed assumptions about a candidate and what you 'think' he might do regarding immigration because he goes to a particular church. Impotent is denying all the facts that have been laid before you while foolishly sticking to your weak and failed argument even though you know you've had your butt handed to you.

Like I said, defending the indefensible has turned out to be a harder task than you thought it would, eh normy?

Have a good day.

Not really. Obama increased spending, that’s for sure, but Bush signed the continuing resolution to March of 2009 and TARP which caused most of the spending increase. TARP was $184B and ARRA was $155B in 2010. The big change in 2009 was the loss of revenue that came with the stock market crash, $581B.

Okay, so this is all assumptions on your part because you already don’t like him. Gotcha.

No, because I read his website. Here's the Link. If you can point out to me where it says that used goods won't be taxed and those living at the poverty level or below won't pay income tax or that companies outside of the Opportunity Zones will be able to continue to use labor costs as an expense then you will have made your point. Have at it.
