Michele Bachmann: U.S. got "kicked out" of Iraq
CBS Face the nation ^ | Oct. 23, 2011 | Lucy Madison

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann on Sunday joined the chorus of GOP contenders lambasting President Obama for his decision to withdraw nearly all troops from Iraq by the end of the year. She contended that the United States had been "kicked out" of the country "by the very people we liberated," and that the decision was "more politically-based than military-based."

Bachmann, in an appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation," said it would be unwise to withdraw troops from the country while its political status remained tenuous, and argued that "if you look at every time we have deposed a dictator, the United States has always left troops behind to be able to enforce the fragile peace."

Host Bob Schieffer asked Bachmann, "Do you think, congresswoman, that the American people, with the budget situation the way it is, really want to keep a large contingent of American troops in iraq indefinitely?"

"Of course not. No one wants to do that," she replied, but said there should be a temporary transition."

"We're going from the point of leaving to leaving zero troops behind," Bachmann said. "Once we're finished in Iraq, we'll have more troops in Honduras than we'll be leaving behind in Iraq."

o undo the progress made by Bush-Cheney.

Progress in terms of keeping troops longer? It was "Bush-Cheney" (to their credit) who gave us the Status of Forces Agreement which pledged that ALL troops would leave at the end of 2011. If anything Obama was trying to undermine this Agreement by trying to keep troops longer.

O did the same thing with the post-surge draw-down and transfer of troops to Afghanistan. It was already planned before he took office. A Clintonian braggart on steroids.

Why ask me?

My point was the nature of the question, coming from a marxist rat presstitute who otherwise probably climaxes at the thought of additional government spending.

Our troops won the war in Iraq years ago, and won it again about 2 years ago, and should have been home by now at least twice.

The politicians have played with our troops and their lives.

This was a congressionally authorized retaliation without a declaration of war. There was no need to stay past the overthrow of the Hussein regime and the search (and demise of?) for dangerous WMDs.

Sheesh, I don’t doubt that a bit.

Remember that among muslims, Islam is thicker than blood. We can give these muslims their freedom and a democtatic society on a silver platter, paid for with American blood, but we shall always remain a bunch of pagans in their eyes.

Perhaps we should kiss their butts more passionately so that they will loooooooove us.

Speaking of Bachmann...Finally found out why Mark Stein was so keen on Miss Bachmann, it was payback for her comments on Meet The Press in 2005 on his book.

Seems she had said great things about his book and he wanted to repay the favor, he was grateful to her, he mentioned this when he filled in for Rush last week.

I like Stein, crony capitalism :) ??

I thought I would ask you those questions as it appears you have an opinion on the Iraq pullout which diverges from former President Bush who scheduled our troops to leave Iraq before 2012.

It appears the ubama administration's foreign policy agenda is to undo the progress made by Bush-Cheney.

Absolutely. With deniability, of course -- because Obozo, like FDR, is a congenital liar.

BTTT.

the US dollar remains the official reserve currency?

Here in Houston we get -- no, really -- Chicom government news (their version of CNN, call it CNN without the middleman) on one of the HDTV over-the-air channels.

They ran a crawl item over the weekend to the effect that the Chinese are now negotiating the settlement of trade among ASEAN nations in Chinese renminbi/yuan, vice dollars. Think about that for a while.

But no, the Chinese are not backing off their campaign to displace the dollar from international trade.

And yet, we still have troops in Kosovo. I guess it’s ok as long as it’s a democrat that sends troops. Sarcasm intended.

I do have a different opinion from Bush’s scheduled pullout. I thought we should’ve been out of there about 6 or 7 years ago.
