Angry passengers have started a boycott of American Airlines after it lost a cat named Jack in the baggage area at New York's John F Kennedy Airport seven weeks ago.

Supporters of Jack the cat yesterday held a day of action at the airport to raise awareness of the missing moggy.

The weeks may have passed, but the anger over the airline’s failure to find him is growing.

The Jack The Cat is Lost in AA Baggage at JFK Facebook page now has more than 15,000 followers. It is updated daily with hundreds of comments from supporters.

The aim of the event at the airport was to spread awareness about Jack to the 37,000 people who work at the airport, ABC News reported.

Bonnie Folz, one of the organisers of the search, said: 'You would be surprised the amount of people at JFK that are not aware that Jack is missing. 'There are construction workers, shop workers, store workers, garage cleaners, garage

FWIW, Jack the Cat's owners were flown to JFK to aid in the search and were briefed on all the efforts to find the little darling.

AA has employed all sorts of technology (night vision goggles, IR scopes, etc) to find the fleabag darling little cat.

That being said, over next couple of months I'm flying on AA out of JFK 4 times. I'll keep everyone posted if I find him or not.

Southwest will, for a price, of course, allow you to hand carry your favorite furhead into the cabin with you. It does count as one of your two carry on bags, but I think that’s fair.

The reason I know is that I did three months in an extended stay hotel in CA, and thought that the presence of Brat would ease the stress (probably not: she was named Brat for a reason).

During my midterm trip home, I reconsidered, since while we’d bought the approved carrier, I had a four day drive (CA to NH) to get home, and I couldn’t see myself wandering around the various gas points with a four pound cat on a leash. Too, there was the problem of hotels in transit, and how you can feed and water as you’re doing 70 in an F350.

Were it my cat, and their fault, they’d have a suit to handle.

I remember a story that my local news channel did on a lost dog.

This couple from Ontario found a stray dog in Florida. They decided to take the dog home, so they got the dog treated and prepped to take back. They paid for the dog’s trip on a plane and the airline lost the dog.

The last shot in the story was a horrific pan shot of where the airline keeps all the suitcases, all thousands of them.

Poor dog. I think you’d be better off driving across country in those situations, rather than flying. With a determined effort, it’s only about four days to go from any one place to any other one place.

Do you think so? He looks like a beautiful, long-haired cat to me (see above photographs). Maybe you're mixing up the photo from the Daily Mail article of another cat from the You Tube video with being Jack.

They’re my pets, or I’m their staff depending on how well you know or like cats. I have to put up with a significant amount of abuse to fly at all, and I see no reason why they should.

I think I’d be negligent if I simply put one into the baggage pile.

how you can feed and water as you’re doing 70 in an F350.

Attach 16' horse trailer to goose-neck hitch; place litter box, feeder, and waterer in an enclosed "dog" (oh, the ignominy...DOG!) kennel in trailer. Instead of motels, sleep in the 'camper' section of the trailer. Close horse compartment doors from the inside, before opening the kennel door to visit & serve kitteh.

I had to transport 3 from Oregon to South Dakota, spending 2 nights on the road. The two dogs rode in the back seat of the F350 crew cab, as I didn't have to worry about them escaping.

Jack the cat has either left the baggage area by now, or he should be stinking enough that they should have no trouble finding him.

Are the buzzards circling the airport?
