Mexico: Sharp Increase in Number of Immigrants Leaving the US
Fox News Latino ^ | August 24, 2011 | Unknown

Mexico City – The number of Mexican emigrants who opted to return to their homeland from the United States increased sharply over the past five years to almost 1 million, according to census data.

The deputy secretary of Population, Migration and Religious Affairs, Rene Zenteno Quintero, told a press conference that that figure was 2.7 times higher than the amount registered in Mexico's 2000 census.

The exodus of Mexicans to the United States has likewise been reduced, "seen in a net zero balance between emigrants and immigrants who return to Mexico, meaning we're experiencing a historic moment," he said.

The official also referred to a recent National Occupation and Employment Survey that shows a 70 percent decline in the rate of emigration over the past four years.

The Obama-economy is not treating them well. The housing bubble was a huge lure but long gone.

Remember how many times were were lectured, especially during the housing bubble push for amnesty, that they were not going home so we must given them full US citizen benefits, the vote, food stamps, college (thanks Perry), EITC...???

Looks like many are going home, despite Obama's attempts to throw more candy on the ground as bait.

increased sharply over the past five years to almost 1 million,

One Million in 5 years? That is roughly 200,000 a year. Hardly a drop in the bucket to the estimated 40 million that are here.

Bears repeating.

Why would they leave. After all our freebies are way better than those in Mexico.

A visit to my local Academy and Home Depot, this past week, indicates this report isn't 100% correct.

Why would you leave a country that gladly provides free healthcare, excellent free education (comparatively) and other "assistance"?

Despite the freebies, subsistance living here is still more expensive than it is in Mexico. What we may be seeing is the men staying, while they send the women and children back home.

At our plant here in Alabama we saw 8% of our employment quit after the new law. 100% of the 8% were Latino.

Damn, Alabama's "heartless".

Not every Mexican comes here for "freebies".

Many come here for work and to send the money back home to Mexico to provide for their families.

If the work isn't here and there are actually more and better jobs back in Mexico, then they prefer to go back there, work and be home with their families.

And before you and everyone else go off on an "illegal wetback lover" kick, I am not supporting breaking the law, just explaining why some come here and why they go back.

Mexico has a HUGE war on drugs problem now. And that's all we hear about the country, but in reality there are a lot of good places to live well there. It's the same if all the international reporting about the USA was what was going on in the inner cities and bad neighborhoods.

“Could it be true...?”

What great news! I hope those who came here and managed to learn news skills or those who managed to get an education in our school systems, will take that knowledge home and rebuild their beautiful country. They will have to face the sorrow of whole generations being lost in the drug wars but they can do it as other countries before them. I’m jumping the gun but, wouldn’t it be great for Mexicans to want their OWN country back instead of trying to take over ours?

I'm with you - that's the best outcome.

Sorry, no sob stories. I have run out of compassion for illegals who suppress salaries, working conditions, and job opportunities for Americans, and often get all or part of their income under the table. We can't afford to be the HR or welfare department for the world.

As to why they come here; they are allowed and encouraged to come by the political elite on both sides of the border who benefit from the cheap labor.

Maybe — maybe not. It’s hard to say. Theirs is a corrupt government, so they could be lying.

See, we don’t have to deport them. Make ‘em miserable enough and they self deport.

Of course, the way things are going, Americans are going to start abandoning the country in droves, too.
