MTSU Poll Finds Obama Trailing Republican Rivals [Romney, Perry, Cain]
The Chattanoogan ^ | October 24, 2011 | Breaking News

Any of the Republican presidential primary’s frontrunners would beat President Obama in Tennessee if the presidential election were held today, the latest MTSU Poll finds.

The same poll shows President Obama’s job approval rate hitting an all-time low in Tennessee, and his disapproval rate hitting an all-time high. The poll also probed knowledge of the state’s new voter ID law, preferences for addressing the finances of the state’s lottery-funded college scholarship program, perceptions about the quality of Tennessee’s public schools, and attitudes on several other issues.

Conducted Oct. 3-14 by the College of Mass Communication at Middle Tennessee State University, the telephone poll of 640 randomly selected Tennessee adults found Mitt Romney leading Obama by 44 percent to 29 percent, Rick Perry leading Obama 41 percent to 28 percent, and Herman Cain leading Obama 39 percent to 28 percent. In each match-up, between 14 and 16 percent of Tennesseans say they would vote for neither candidate, and another 14 to 19 percent are undecided or give no answer.

“A lot could happen between now and the 2012 presidential election, of course, but at this point, Obama’s campaign faces an uphill struggle against any seemingly plausible Republican challenger if the president is to win the state of Tennessee in 2012,” said Dr. Jason Reineke, an assistant professor in the college’s School of Journalism and the MTSU Poll’s associate director.

Dr. Reineke noted that in 2008 in Tennessee Obama lost to Republican presidential candidate John McCain 57 percent to 42 percent. The poll also found Obama’s disapproval rate among Tennesseans at an all-time high of 63 percent, and his approval rate at an all-time low of 30 percent. Obama enjoyed a 53 percent approval and a 27 percent disapproval rating in Tennessee during the spring of 2009, according to that semester’s MTSU Poll. But his approval and disapproval ratings had grown roughly even by the Fall 2009 MTSU Poll, and his disapproval numbers have exceeded his approval numbers in every MTSU Poll since.

Bad news for Obama in Tennessee.

May be some good news for Perry.

If you like to mess around with the Electoral College Map to see what it will take to win in 2012 you will find a good one at:

270ToWin.com

After you spend some time with it you will see that this is not going to be slam dunk. We are going to have to win back some states that should never have gone to Obama in the first place and make sure we win Florida and Ohio. Even then that is not enough. Having a base of New York, California and probably Pennsylvania gives the Dems a huge head start.

Governor Perry’s natural base is the South.

Second to that would be parts of the Midwest.

I would be shocked if Perry would not beat Obama in a strong GOP state either South or Midwestern.

This shows the natural state of play in a race that should be the GOP’s to lose.

True battleground states are a different matter...not saying how they would turn out, just saying they would be a different ballgame.

If you start off where McCain left us (losing 359 to 179) and move the following states from D to R ...

Ohio
Florida
Indiana
North Carolina
Virginia

Right now this looks likely in which case you get to D-273 vs R-265.

Assuming we win the House and Senate in 2012 we could survive a tie which you would get with NH moving from D to R.

More likely we would need just ONE of the following:

Nevada
New Mexico
Colorado
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Michigan
Pennsylvania
Iowa

So Ohio and Florida are key states as usual. If we win those we have a very good chance of removing Obama. If we lose either we are in trouble.

When I look at that photo of insensitive Herr Zer0 folding his hands during the National Anthem, it again tells me that there was never a more odious, abject disgrace of a character in U.S. history than this imposter Presedent, Barry aka Barack Hussein Obama Jr. (or whatever is his real name).

The fact that a reelection of this %^&*()_+ is even considered to be within the realm of possibility indicates that America is really on the skids. Assuming it is possible to survive the damage done in one term by Obama how is it possible to survive the damage done by having such a pathetically stupid electorate?
