On the November 8 general election ballot: Issue 2. As the Labor Union Report summarizes the measure:

Issue 2 on Ohio’s November 8 ballot poses a simple question to voters: Should SB5, Ohio’s government reform effort to get control back from union bosses, be allowed to go into effect?

Lined up against Ohio GOP Gov. John Kasich and fiscally responsible supporters of Issue 2:

All the D.C. unions.

Ohio conservatives, please vote for the controls on public employee unions. We in Wisconsin got it done and our schools have a lot more choices on how to keep quality education, yet save on paying for excessive salaries, teacher-owned health ins co.s or pay more taxes for the same old, same old. Why should a clerk at the DMV have better benefits than the taxpayers who pony up the $$ ?

No is winning pretty handily from what I heard this morning. Quin did a poll and "repeal" is "crushing" uphold 52-35.

Firefighters have signs everywhere. I'll probably never vote for a fire levy again.

The Ohio Tea Party has been non-existent on this issue. The “No on Issue 2” ads are everywhere and they are the worst kind of demagoguing you can imagine: (”If Issue 2 passes, my granddaughter might die in a house fire because there won’t be enough firefighters.”) Total garbage.

Hardly seen any Yes on Issue 2 ads. If Conservatives and Republicans don’t even bother to fight for what they believe in, than we don’t deserve to win.

There are a lot of tea party folks who are in those very unions that negotiate with government entities. Lots of fire and police folks are active tea party.

today several times while I’ve listened to Beck and Rush, there has been a commercial porting that polling is 50 something % for repealing and 40 some % to keep it.

I’ll be voting YES on issue 2 ~

My entire family will be a “yes” on 2 and 3. Sick of all unions. Hate ‘em. Worst thing that ever happened to American business.

I wrote letters to Gov. Kasich and A.G. Mike Dewine complaining about the use of public property (buildings and fire equipment) in TV ads for the repeal of SB 5. Kasich’s office ignored the letter. Mike Dewine’s office told me to contact the board of elections. The Dayton Daily News didn’t publish my letter. Yard signs are everywhere supporting NO... very few to be seen for the opposition. There has not been an effective advertising campaign in support of SB 5.

If the Ohio voters vote to repeal it, they do not have any right to complain about unemployment. They can go down with the sinking union ship.

Apparently it’s been enough to cool the heals most of the tea party folks in the state.

Post 19 is confusing. Are you for or against Ohio sb 5? As in Wisconsin, Ohio had allowed government unions to acquire power, money and an arm lock on politicians to the point the government unions were calling the shots in their employment situations. Management rights were nonexistent and we working taxpayers were on the hook for overly generous pensions and health benefits. Benefits much better than those average citizens had in private employment.

Now that states and the federal government can no longer fund the lavish lifestyles of public employees without more borrowing and taxing, a roll back was necessary. The roll back is only possible if SB 5 goes into effect. Without it Ohio is as broke as a lot of other spendthrift states. Better a law goes into effect than pushing Ohio taxpayers off the cliff.
