Rikers cons flood Zuccotti for free eats (OWC NY)
New York Post ^ | October 26, 2011 | REBECCA ROSENBERG, JAMIE SCHRAM and BOB FREDERICKS

Posted on 10/26/2011 12:24:12 PM PDT by libstripper

Newly sprung ex-cons and vagrants rousted from other parks are crashing the Occupy Wall Street protest, where gourmet meals are free and boozy, drugfueled parties are on tap, the movement’s leaders griped yesterday.

“They’re telling people who leave prison to go to Zuccotti Park,” lamented Daniel Zetah, a leader of the OWS community-relations group.

Volunteer Lauren Digioia, 26, said, “We have drug dealing going on here, gang activity, public intoxication. There are a lot of instigators. There are a lot of vultures.

“Everyone knows we give out free food and sleeping bags, and it’s a perfect opportunity for squatters.”

The flies have laid their eggs on on the pile of subhuman debris at Zuccotti, the maggots have hatched, and they're eating through the whole mass of shit.

“Everyone knows we give out free food and sleeping bags, and it’s a perfect opportunity for squatters.”

And they completely miss the irony of that statement.

If this is what their philosophy did in one small park, imaging what it would do on a world wide scale.

They've exposed the weakness in the business model.

“There’s a lot of drugs, alcohol, assault [and] theft [by] the homeless groups coming in. We’ve had meetings all day to brainstorm what to do,’’ said Zetah, 34.

You could start by establishing the rule of law and protecting property rights.

Or would that conflict with the goals of your protest?

OWS completely misses a practical lesson in the Law of Unintended Consequences. Give away “free stuff” and everybody converges, and many of those are of the type that you wouldn’t ordinarily want to associate with.

This is why Mayor Bloomberg was smart in avoiding a showdown with the protesters. If there were a showdown (like the one in Oakland) the city would lose and the protesters would gain sympathy from the public. Instead Bloomberg has allowed the weather, the criminal element, the homeless and the freak community to erode Occupy Wall Street’s effectiveness.

I attended college in NYC from 1969 to 1973 and went down to check out a few of the anti-war protests that popped up from time-to-time in the city. It was quickly obvious that protests in NYC turn into “freak shows” that draw everyone with a cause and many others who just want to have a good time. New York City thrives on a freak show and the anti-war protests drew them all out. I suspect that Occupy Wall Stree is having the same problem. One advice to anyone who wants to protest in NYC...watch your wallet. The pickpockets are really good in New York.

OWS is turning into Animal Farm.

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

A thought experiment: Europe nations begin defaulting, beginning with the PIIGS - France falls - Germany esacpes into the Deutchmark - American banks cannot stand amongst the rubble across the pond - American municipalities begin defaulting, cutting back on police/fire etc - homelessness rises, essential services cut, welfare benefits cut

Cities and towns become tent cities ruled by lawlessness, as illustrated by our guests from Rikers Island paying a social call, squatting on the squatters.

By avoiding a showdown, Bloomberg is not just avoiding imputing sympathy or allowing erosion to take it’s toll. Remember the line “a conservative is a liberal who got mugged”? he’s letting the natural order of humanity “mug” the kids who are so used to the luxuries of society they don’t understand why conservative rules are in place. Maybe, having suffered from assorted social maladies, they’ll figure out that some people making lots of money is a small “price” to pay for facilitating a society of such comfortable norms.

Yep, eventually you run out of other people’s free stuff.

Funny how the OWS commies react when suddenly they are the “rich” and those poorer than them come to take what is “theirs” from them. I can only imagine how much angrier they’d be if they had actually worked hard to earn the food and sleeping bags that the released prisoners are taking.

I once saw a photograph of a flea under an electron microscope. On the flea's back was a multitude of tiny flea-like parasites; the immediate effect of the shot was to cause one to extrapolate the idea ad infinitum.

I think nature is teaching us a lesson with that picture. It sure taught me a lesson.

I predict the 'gourmet' meals will soon be replaced with rice, beans, tube steaks and Kool-Aid.

Wrong! More like look in the mirror and see your concept of protest, in this case, for what it is...

a greedy, self-centered attempt to get your way, like a spoiled child.

Government entities physically harming these people is undesirable. They are sheep and they need to learn that there are wolves that will take from them and when they are in rebellion the sheep dogs can’t protect them.
