Former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter gets up to 5½ years in prison

The former U.N. weapons inspector convicted in an online sex sting has been sentenced to 1½ to 5½ years in state prison.

Following his sentencing in Monroe County Court on Wednesday afternoon, Scott Ritter was led out in handcuffs and sent to Monroe County Correctional Facility, where he will remain until it is determined which state prison he will serve his sentence at.

I always suspected someone got the goods on him and made him stop. Then when he got caught trolling for little girls I knew I was right.

Ritter was one of the U.N.'s chief weapons inspectors in Iraq from 1991 to 1998. He resigned after accusing the United States and the U.N. of failing to get tough with Saddam Hussein. Later, he said Iraq had destroyed its weapons of mass destruction, and he became a vocal critic of the U.S. invasion.

The UN position was a joke at best. A pitiful joke. Whatever WMD a country did not wish to show (at best, what was not obvious by satellite), the UN inspector for weapons of mass destruction would not be able to see. Even Scott Ritter would have had to wonder what sense it made, but hey it was a job as a feckless functionary.

Too bad for Ritter that he learned too late that thinking with the little head instead of the big one can get a fellow in trouble mighty quick. Especially when the little head is insane. Little girls? I don’t know about his native Netherlands (IIRC) but it’s a huge no-no in the USA. They probably will put him in protective solitary so none of these drop-the-soap incidents that have been wished for here will occur, but still it sucks to be him.
