Taking aspirin regularly can cut the long-term risk of cancer, according to the first major study of its kind.
British researchers found it can reduce the risk by 60 per cent in people with a family history of the disease.
The landmark research covering 16 countries is the first proof that the painkiller has a preventive action that is likely to benefit anyone using it every day.

Bump!
I take a couple aspirin everyday. Along with 3-4 thousand MGs fish oil.

It can deplete B vitamins.
How to make aspirin if you are lost in the woods:
Steps
1
Rip some bark off a willow tree.
2
Start a fire.
3
Bring water to a boil.
4
Place willow tree bark into the boiling water. Use 1-2 tsp for every 8 oz of water.
5
Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
6
Steep it as you would tea for 1/2 hour. This is basically aspirin - the chemical that aspirin is made of is found in the bark of willow trees. However, it isn’t exactly aspirin, but salicylic acid, which can have more side effects.
7
Drink the 3-4 cups daily
If you can survive the strokes.
How long until taking aspirin is mandatory?
OK.
Then don’t take it.
Up to you.
In truth, just about everything you can do depletes B vitamins, so it’s a good idea to supplement those if not every day, then every other day or so.
This is bullshit.
Aspirin can lead to strokes, and also liver damage.
If you’re worried about cancer, make your body more alcaline; cancer and oxygen cannot coexist.
Cruciferous veges and hot peppers are your friends, sugar, starches and grains (not seeds or nuts) are your enemies.
Brand-name aspirin is no more effective than generic or store brands.

That's why I take one a day.
From the article:
“He said: If we put them all on two aspirins a day now, in the next 30 years or so we would prevent 10,000 cancers. On the other hand, this would cause around 1,000 ulcers.
If we can prevent 10,000 cancers in return for 1,000 ulcers and 100 strokes, in most peoples minds thats a good deal, especially if youve grown up in a family with three, four, five, six people who have had cancer.”
New study: The McRib prevents the brain from being rotted by liberalism. McDonald's to offer it year round at all restaurants. ;~D
Believe it or not, it’s up to you, no skin off my rear end.
BTW, the word is spelled “alkaline”.
My Grandpa had a rule: he took an aspirin, an Ex-Lax, and a multivitamin every single day. No prescription meds unless he was at death’s door.
Even after he moved into the nursing home at the age of 98, he would have us sneak them in, because the nursing staff declined to participate! He had my Grandma on the same regimen; she passed away at 94, he at 99.

Aspirin, even low dosage, every day can cause microscopic colitis. The cure is simple but the discomfort monumental when it takes 6 months to diagnose.
Doesn’t say what dose. There are several with 325mg the top and 75/80 the least.

I take at least 2 aspirins daily and have done so for many years mostly for headaches. I will say that it has affected my stomach and I have to drink milk as a chaser so I don’t get sick. I know it has thinned my blood, and when I cut myself I bleed a lot. I’m 63 and have tried to do without aspirin, but I think I may have gotten hooked on them. I think they can also damage the kidneys.
Well, I’m not an MD, but from what I have read, I can say this:
Personally, if you are someone who has a familial history of stroke or bleeding disorders, OR you are a person with a history of gastrointestinal problems, I would NOT recommend an aspirin a day unless cleared by your physician.
I mean I am assuming we are adults here, and can make intelligent decisions about our own health. Anyone who doesn’t feel confident in that category should talk to their doctor.
I’m sure he can come up with a $300 month prescription that will fix ya up good.
Regular use of aspirin will kill you, or leave you aphasic.
thats strange... My Grandfather died from cancer while doing that...
It can cause heart attacks.
It can cause heart attacks.
Well. I’ve read MANY abstracts and case studies.
I have never heard of a heart attack caused by aspirin.
In fact I think if you make it to the hospital following a heart attack, one of the first things they do is give you intravenous aspirin and Magnesium.
Then don’t take it. Me? I take a couple of aspirin for pain about 3-4 times/week. Of course, I may plop dead tomorrow...
Good advice. Check out piperlongumine.
The trade off being a bleeding ulcer.
There are other things one can do to help prevent cancer...
Use coconut oil...
If you want to use a polyunsaturated oil as a food, it is worthwhile to remember what its effects are: it suppresses metabolism and promotes obesity, is immunosuppressive; causes inflammation and shock; is required for alcoholic liver cirrhosis; sensitizes to radiation damage; accelerates formation of aging pigment, cataracts, retinal degeneration; promotes free radical damage and excitoxicity; causes cancer and accelerates its growth; is toxic to the heart muscle and promotes atherosclerosis; can cause brain edema, diabetes, excessive vascular permeability, precocious puberty, progesterone deficiency, skin wrinkling and other signs of aging.
Cancer cant occur unless there are unsaturated oils in the diet. (C. lp, et al., Cancer Res. 45, 1985.) Alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver cannot occur unless there are unsaturated oils in the diet. (Nanji and French, Life Sciences. 44, 1989.) Heart disease can be produced by unsaturated oils, and prevented by adding saturated oils to the diet. (J.K.G. Kramer, et al., Lipids 17, 372, 1983.)
Bull crap.
I'm replying from memory, but I thought that aspirin thinned the blood, making strokes more likely, but they are supposed to prevent heart attacks.....
Pretty funny...the lack of biological knowledge always amazes me.
Exactly correct.
Ulcers are one of the most misunderstood diseases. Many people still believe stress causes them. Most ulcers can now be treated with antibiotics and that is why there are fewer surgeries today for treating ulcers...in fact, it is becoming rare. This was discovered by two Aussie scientists,Robin Warren and Barry Marshall who won Nobel awards for medicine .
I took this from About.com to make it simple:
“In the past, it was believed stress and diet caused peptic ulcers. Later, researchers stated stomach acids (hydrochloric acid and pepsin) contributed to the majority of ulcer formation. Today, however, research shows that most ulcers develop as a result of infection with a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori. “
... But causes damage. Natural approaches reduce inflammation without side effects.
Olive oil is a “mono” I think...
Us`n hillbillies sprinkle bark shavings on our fermented corn for dessert, like our ancestors did. We also suck sap from the trees, chew wild grass like a cud, use cushion moss for cuts, wild honey for ladies` young skin and brew wild *** tea for a kickapoo kicker. I kid you not.
I’d like to see this same study done with fish/krill oil instead of aspirin. I’d bet they’d find similar results but without the side effects.
Ummm....
read my post 5.
Aspirin IS a natural substance.
But then, so are amanita mushrooms. The whole “natural” kick is kinda whiffle-ball, if you ask me.
I’ve got at least three “natural” plants growing in my yard that would kill you one hell of a lot quicker than any aspirin will.
Lots of things you can take that can reduce cancer.
1. Oil of Oregano
2. Garlic
3. Lycopene
4. Coral calcium or even just calcium
5. Ellagic Acid
6. Any antioxidants (C, D, E, NAC, Grape Seed Extract, Acai, etc)
7. Cesium Chloride w/ Potassium
8. Paw Paw
...”I mean I am assuming we are adults here, and can make intelligent decisions about our own health. “
For how long? 2014?
Miraculously it also raises aspirin manufacturers profits by 60%
Win win
It didn't say it prevents cancer. It cuts the risk.
Vitamin E and prostate cancer

Correct. If you die from a stroke, you have a lesser risk of getting cancer.
There are TWO main types of stroke: those caused by blood clots and those cause by bleeding. Any blood thinner decreases the chances of the former and increases the chances of the latter. Blood thinners also decrease blood clots that cause heart attacks.
