Sex offenders found at 39 California foster homes
Marisa Lagos, Chronicle Staff Writer
Thursday, October 27, 2011

Lax state oversight has resulted in sex offenders living, working or being present in at least 39 California homes where foster children are also authorized to live, including several in the Bay Area, a state audit released Thursday concluded.

The audit compared the addresses of registered sex offenders with the addresses of licensed facilities and homes where foster children were placed, and found more than 1,000 instances where the addresses matched. When state and county officials investigated those addresses, they found 39 instances where sex offenders were affiliated with the foster facilities - including several in Mountain View and one in Vallejo.

According the audit, those affiliations included a sex offender owning a foster property, a sex offender's spouse running a facility and a sex offender picking up mail at a foster facility. It also included eight cases where registered sex offenders were "associated" with foster homes where no children were actually living at the time.

Of course, where else should we expect to find them, an old folk’s home?

I think not.

Just as in nature, the predator is close to its prey.

No problem... Just restore their rights and the issue is resolved.

ping us when the authorities who regulate foster homes are hit with a class action suit that results in a centimillion dollar award.

Are these real sex offenders or guys that got caught taking a piss outside, or having sex with their 15 year old girlfriend when they were 18. This nation has went sex offender crazy. Pretty soon millions will be on the sex offender registry, mostly for piss ant crimes.

This is true. And we wouldn’t need the stupid registry if they would lock up (or worse) the really dangerous offenders. Rapists, child molesters, people who commit real sex crimes are not fixable and they should not be released. Well, unless they are released and then tethered permanently to the judge or parole board members who let them out.

"Rapists, child molesters, people who commit real sex crimes are not fixable and they should not be released."

There is a time worn, essential way to eliminate the sex drive of domesticated male mammals and it ought to be used on these beasts. So much cheaper than incarceration. Let the eunuch walk among his neighbors, fat and balding after his orchiectomy, as an example to other violent teenagers coming along. Let him toil and pay taxes but not reproduce or lounge in jail. Who knows? We might be able to breed it out of mankind. If not genetically, then by stopping the apple from falling off the tree; i.e. gentling the violent daddy. We all know there is a cycle of violence.

It depends on what qualifies as a “sex offender” here. If it’s someone charged for urinating behind a tree, that’s one thing. If it’s someone convicted of forcible rape, sodomy, molestation, that’s an entirely different story and entirely outrageous.

The Foster parents across the street from us are real losers. Maybe not sex offenders, but they don't “parent” the kids at all. You will see the 10 year old running around on the 2nd story roof, or the boys lying in the street trying to stop traffic faking an injury. They don't use garbage pick-up and just fill their garage with bags of trash and about three times a year the slum lord hulls it away. You will never see the adults working in the yard or mowing the grass. When neighbors complain too much they force the kids to get outside and mow the foot high grass with a old fashion push mower.

I’m not convinced that would fix all of these people. They might not commit the same sort of crimes, but they might still commit violent acts. I’m not willing to take the chance (altho I”m not opposed to neutering them as well). I want them locked away from the public.

My older brothers and I lived in foster homes in the early 1960s in Phoenix,AZ. I once saw a kid get the dogs!@t slapped out of him for taking two pieces of cornbread. We had to stay outside in the back yard all day. Another foster kid delighted in pulling the hair out of my arms. My older brother beat his ass one day and that stopped that. These are just a few stories......Great times!

I thought sex offenders were just another oppressed alternative lifestyle. Isn’t that the way Californians view every perversion?

Unfortunately, in my current neighborhood, I’d rather have access to a Burglary Offender List.

I’m not kidding much, but seriously: There’s no serial assaulter list, no murderer list...

I am so sorry that happened to you and your brother, 4yearlurker. A close friend of mine lived near a family that fostered children. The saddest story she told me was during Christmas, the foster children didn’t get even one small present. The “bio” children of the couple had presents stacked up under the tree but not ONE for the others. One little boy about age 7 asked the foster Mom, “Why didn’t Santa bring me anything?” Her reply, “Because Santa doesn’t get extra money in December to buy you anything”. Beyond cruel and just heartless IMHO. My girlfriend went shopping the day after Christmas and called the three foster kids over and told them Santa dropped their presents off at her house by mistake.

Have you reported this to the State or County Department responsible for warehousing the children? Health Dept or Child Protective Service also?

Hope they didn’t get custody of the children through a church - but if so - report them.
