GRAND RAPIDS -- Former Massachusetts governor and Michigan native Mitt Romney said Thursday night it "breaks my heart to see this state having so much difficulty in so many places." Romney, speaking to hundreds at the Boy Scouts of America Gerald R. Ford Council's Building Character Celebration Dinner, said he has a better idea for leadership. "I'm convinced that if Boy Scouts were running things here in Michigan, you'd be a lot better off," Romney said to hefty applause at DeVos Place, 303 Monroe Ave. NW.

Romney, 62, is “the kind of person that the Boy Scouts can and are very proud to claim as one of our own,” DeVos said.
The Press asked Romney what scout rank he attained during his stint in the organization. He wasn’t sure.
“I think I know, but I don’t want to say without checking,” he said.
Is Romney an Eagle Scout?
— Life Scout asking.
Thanks.
I’m not sure. One story I read lists him as an Eagle Scout, but not this story. You’d think he’d know if he earned eagle or not.
It seems he is not an eagle Scout but Rick Perry thought so when he wrote his book, On My Honor.
Romney is not an Eagle Scout
Perry claimed Romney as an Eagle Scout, when he actually wasn’t.
Interestingly, I found that Perry and Huntsman are both Eagle Scouts.
Interesting.
Just did a search, as far as I can tell, RICK PERRY is the Eagle Scout in this race?
Go Perry, Go Perry... :D
That was kinda dumb remark since the Republicans have taken over Michigan government.
Did the former Mass. Governor tell the Scouts that “The State” controls their bodies?
Building character? Mitt’s the ideal shovel ready project for that :-)
Huntsman is a very dark horse; like Mitt he is a Latter Day Saint, but Huntsman might actually beat Mitt out in hypothetical performance as a Republican ham sandwich. Huntsman does not have the conniving experience of Mitt so there could be more hope.
This slimy post is an article from February 2010.
Mittens likes to use the Boy Scouts as a campaign prop but it’s just the kind of slimy politics he’s mastered.
Starting during the Clinton Administration (the name Roberta Achtenberg ring a bell?) the Boy Scouts have come under relentless fire by the Democrats and their newsrooms for rejecting the idea that they, the Boy Scouts of America, should welcome homosexual scout leaders into the fold and let them take little boys off into the woods. Boy Scouts leaders don’t think this is such a good idea. Naturally, Massachusetts Mittens sides with the homo activists.
Here are a couple of columns from 10 - 12 years ago about the Boy Scouts being turned away by Mitt Romney and the Olympic Committee for volunteer work on the Salt Lake Olympics. The Boy Scouts had just won a Supreme Court case (in June of 2000 the Supreme Court ruled that the BSA was a private organization that could choose whoever they wanted as scout leaders and could therefore reject sodomites) and the Democrats/homos were still ticked off about it. Naturally, Massachusetts Mittens can always be counted on to pander to the homo activists, so he gladly came up with a lame lie of an excuse for turning the Boy Scouts away.

(usually through surrogates).
Please freepmail me if you wish to be added or dropped from the mitten ping.
He knows he wasn't an Eagle scout, he just can't remember what rank he was.
FWIW, I was a boy scout too but can't remember what rank I was either.....Of course these days I have to look at my watch to see what day it is...LOL!
Damn, I fell for it again.....note to self: Check article dates before replying.
