That transcription is not very well edited.
I haven't seen - and can't find - the video of the section I pasted above, but other parts that are available online document that the transcript isn't verbatim.
For example, here's the first video listed when I searched the CNBC site: http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000053196
And here's the transcript (note that besides other errors, the transcription misspells "Sarbanes-Oxley"):
RICK PERRY: "But-- well that's a snapshot in time. This plan does a whole lot-- of other things. Like bringing a trillion dollars back offshore, at that 5.25 percent. I mean, that's-- I want to say that's like $385 billion worth of impact. So just to-- take a-- little snapshot, this-- by itself is-- impact the-- the deficit this much. I get that, but it's not the whole story. You got to look at this whole package."We will balance the budget by 2020. Capping our-- spending at 18 percent of gross domestic product. And-- and -- addressing a host of other issues, whether it's our entitlements, whether it's on social security, what have you. But you got to look at the whole plan here. We can get this-- we can get this country back going.
"But here's the most important thing. And I'm going to keep going back to it. If you do not create the climate in this country where people will risk their capital-- and you got to get rid of Obama care. You got to get rid of part of Sorbaines Oxley 404, or-- or-- you got to get rid of-- Dodd-Frank. And quit spending money we don't have. That's what you have to do. Get a tax structure in place, give incentives to those job creators. We can get this country back on track, and we can get this balanced-- budget balanced."
lentulusgracchus, you’re such a joy!
Always so courteous and civil!
Always the first to defend our right to support the candidate of our choice!
Ah, such qualities are to be recognized and held in high regard!
You are truly inspirational!
I can't stream vids, so that's why I appreciate transcripts all the more, and yes, I know to discount hurried transcription erros and typos.
I base my opposition to Perry on principles I've articulated, I think, to everyone's satisfaction -- and beyond! ;)
To be honest, I would go to work for the campaign if they’d have me. I even applied. But they went with professionals.
But I’d be honest if I did work for them, too.
LOL Perhaps to you. But Perry's "heartless" comment showed me a great deal about his true feelings around illegal immigration. He is trying to talk a good game on the campaign trail, but it rings hollow to me.
