A radio ad for a handgun training class that bars Muslims and Obama voters has sparked an investigation in Texas.
"We will attempt to teach you all the necessary information you need to obtain your [Concealed Handgun License]," the ad says. Then towards the end, it adds: "If you are a socialist liberal and/or voted for the current campaigner in chief, please do not take this class. You have already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision under the law."
And then: "If you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you the class with no shame; I am Crockett Keller, thank you, and God bless America."
The ad ran for six days on KHLB, Mason's local station. It's also been heard tens of thousands of times on Youtube.

I love it!
Freedom of association is a hate crime.
So much for Crockett Keller’s freedom of religion.
They can start the investigation by looking into the first amendment. That will tell them almost everything they need to know.
They can learn the rest from the second.
I guess the guy lives outside of Austin. Great add!!
1. Freedom of association
2. Good knack for PR
What’s the problem?
I salute the big guy in the really big hat.
“But the state of Texas may disagree. The Department of Public Safety said in a statement that certified instructors of handgun training are required to comply with all applicable state and federal laws, and added: “Conduct by an instructor that denied service to individuals on the basis of race, ethnicity or religion would place that instructor’s certification by the Department at risk of suspension or revocation.” The department has said it has begun an investigation.”
I don’t think that he’s done anything wrong. The man does not HAVE to teach anyone. You could, in theory, get the teaching license just to have it and teach no one, or to just teach members of your family, or just people in your neighborhood, etc. No one can force him to teach them - that’d be a violation of the Constitution, as it would be slavery. This is not a public restaurant, open to the public for sales, it is him offering personal services to others...certain others. Those who don’t get the offer cannot force him to make it.
I think that the DPS is examining this because Perry is running for President - and the question will come up at some point, so now he can say, “it is being investigated.”

The more I think about this; the more I realize that this guy is just trying to reduce his potential liability by excluding the dangerous and deranged among us.
Or freedom of association.

Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) The FMLA authorizes up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for employees who work for employers that fall under the act. The business must have 50 employees before its employees are protected under this statute.
Looks like he's free and clear - as long as he has a small company in Texas. Source
Mason’s WAY outside of Austin. 110 miles. And a far better lifestyle, too. My dad’s family came to this area after the Civil War & most of my ancestors are buried there. I love going there for research.
The government giveth and the government hath taken away. How dare he question the superior rationality of the government.
/sarc
I don’t get the libtard backlash...libs hate guns, ergo they should be celebrating that they were not invited to an evil gun training place.
Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering what a good guy like that was doing close to Austin. I bet Mason is beautiful.
Go Rangers!!
No, that applies to employment, not services.
I heard this on WBAP Wednesday morning and laughed my a** off!
I suport this patriot..... and I loved his commercial.
I just hope the old rascal can weather the storm thats headed his way.

I imagine he can say whatever he wants. But if he carries out his promise not to allow certain individuals into his classes then he'll likely lose his government certification. And probably should; governments and their agencies can't discriminate based on religion or stupidity.
He's not a government agency.
The government has no business whatsoever dictating to any private business person who he can, or cannot, sell his products or services.
He could have said they provide free lunch — BLT sandwiches. Maybe with a gefilte fish alternative for Jews. And friendly, crotch sniffing hand drooling puppy dogs everywhere.
I remember these signs years ago
“We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason”
If this were flight training, he’d be required to screen his students.
I don’t believe so.
As an example, most taverns must have a liquor license issued by the state and/or city.
I’ve seen many signs in taverns that state “we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone”.
Honestly I don’t support this guy. But if the government can use licenses to force compliance with behavior or actions one finds abhorrent or objectionable it is a problem because too many private acts requires some kind of license.
It’s not just the handgun teachers permit. Why not take away his CCW permit too? And if he owns a restaurant, take away his liquor permit. Or his resale license. Or his FFL. Or his drivers license. We can’t allow the government to use permits and licenses as a sledgehammer to force people to do things they don’t want to do.
Ya beat me to it!
How well did that sign work out for Denny’s?
All it will take is for one Muslim to go to him and for him to refuse service to that Muslim and this guy in Mason is toast.
I wonder if the police and politicians would prefer that NRA-certified instructors allowed the mentally ill and felons to take firearms training? Trainers do their best to make sure that all who take their classes are law-abiding citizens.
bump
But rightful people shouldn't even need to take this class. We should be able to carry either open, or concealed without a "permission slip" from the government!
Loved the ad. Too bad this poor guy is laboring under the impression we still have a 1st Ammendment.
The First Admendment protects speech, not actions.
And if he does what he says, he is in trouble.
That. was. AWESOME. LOL!!
Talk about clank when he walks and I absolutely agree with him.
Seems to me the student is hiring the instructor.
Soooo, whom is the employer?
If Mr. Keller is an employee because a student is paying Mr. Keller money and Texas is a right-to-work state there is liable to be some disappointed Muslims, Obama voters and non-Christian Arabs.
If the employer in this situation is found to be the student, any “certified instructors of handgun training are required to comply with all applicable state and federal laws,” may not have much to point at.
Mr. Keller can not be forced to work for anyone the State chooses and that may throw a big wrinkle in DPS’s thought process that follows that path.
.
That is a great point. If you read about violent gun crimes since 2008, most of the perps are 0b0z0 voters and islamists.
Try opening a restaurant and then air an ad saying that you will not serve black people.
And then when a black person walks in the door, refuse to serve him.
If so then the government is an ass and deserves contempt, along with anyone who supports such.
Denny’s had to pay out 54 million dollars for refusing to serve some black customers and charging black customers more for their product.
There will be Muslims going to this guy for classes and when they get turned away, they will sue him and the Muslims will win.
That seems to cross a line. But they should be able to serve who they wish, or not.
So, do you support this sort of coercion?
Call me a radical, but I would oppose the return of Jim Crow Laws here in the 21st century.
However, it would seem that there are some who would favor the return of Jim Crow Laws.
