Mr. Cain is the right man at the right time!
The rest of the article:
They predict that packing school auditoriums and conference halls with supporters will enable Cain to leap ahead of his competitors, generating buzz and enthusing grassroots activists.
Its a combination of a retail strategy and a wholesale strategy, Block says.

For months, Cains operation in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina has been hustling, but the number of paid staffers has been limited. Now, having raised more than $5 million since the beginning of October, the campaign is stepping up, Block says, hiring experienced strategists, opening more offices, and organizing bus tours.
And the money keeps coming. The campaign has averaged $1.2 million per week since October 1, and over 80 percent of the $5 million raised has come in the form of online donations.
Yet its the town halls that excite Block and Hansen the most.
Block says Cain has been a favorite of conservatives for months, but with a fledgling operation, capitalizing on his popularity has been a challenge. Now, the campaign is flush with cash, and the candidate has established a national presence.
Cain, in essence, will go big and local in the final stretch of primary season, looking to outdraw fellow contenders on the ground and highlight his strength with the GOP base.
The bus tour has been wildly successful versus coming into a community, walking into a room, doing an event, and leaving, he says. The bus tour connects him with Main Street.
The town halls, he says, will be an extension of that political road trip. Itll hit small towns, too, not only large media markets. These events, Block says, will showcase Cains ability to connect with voters, especially those with few ties to the organized GOP.
Block bets that the media interest in these Cain rallies and town halls will keep the candidate on the national radar, stoking interest from on-the-fence Republicans.
Donors, he adds, will also have a chance to see Cain being Cain, fleshing out his positions in long exchanges, which he has not been able to do during televised debates.
The campaign is in the race for the long haul, Block insists, even though there is a long, drawn-out primary season that stretches into the spring. Were making a real play for everywhere, he says. Were not going to concede a state.
Hansen agrees. Its a 50-state strategy, she says. Its also organic hes won straw polls in states where we havent been yet.
In the latest polls, Cain has surged. Mitt Romney has begun to cut into his lead in some surveys. But Cain still has momentum: A new Fox News poll puts him ahead of Romney by about 1 percentage point; the latest CBS News/New York Times poll has him up by 4 points.
We still have a long way to go, Block cautions. Theres some tough stuff coming.
Block and Hansen, outsiders in Washington, are confident that their candidate will survive. Their national strategy will continue, but next month, watch for a new emphasis on making heads turn in Des Moines and Manchester with Cain on stage, microphone in hand.
That's cool. Makes me like Herman even more.
ping to metmom because Herman likes Homeschoolers.
This is VERY good news to me, as most homeschool moms are very to the point about what works and what doesn’t! They aren’t worried about PC methods but are far more interested in getting positive results.
I am liking Herman Cain more and more!
Smart move to minimize time with the Beltway Media Elite who are just out for “gotcha sound bites” and go directly to the voting public.
Steer clear of FOX News and Talk Radio. Just keep a low profile. We'll take care of everything.
It didn't work very well for her. Mr. Cain, while he doesn't have to say yes to every interview, need to be himself and keep doing what he's doing. . . . It's working.
B-but he’s not CAMPAINING in the early states!
I like it!
I’ve seen the polls showing Cain with single-digit numbers while Romney is up at 47%. What a pantload that is. These are the same polls that show Osama at 44% while democrats flee en masse and the red state reps all have a “scheduling conflict” when he comes around.
Cain is running a very unconventional campaign. I like it! Town Hall’s are where these guys should be to get away from the 30 second sound bites.
I like Newt’s idea about the debates as well. Both have a lot more to do w/ substance rather than 30 second marketing. Obama would crap bricks at the mere mention.
I think it's a bold move also and rather unconventional, which I like. It's interesting how very differently Perry's similar strategy (fewer conventional debates) has been received.
Romney won't be able to copy-cat this move because he needs the conventional debate limelight to sell his shtick.
I wanna hear what he’s going to do about the TSA among other things.
As a Cain supporter, I promise to follow his example and ‘Go Big’.
No disparaging remarks about his opponents.
Just positive reports on Herman Cain’s platform and proposals to lift our spirits and our Nation to the top of the hill.
In your face, Karl Rove!
Stick it in your ear, Charles Krauthammer!
Pound sand, Bill O'Reilly!
I think Mr. Herman Cain will have the last laugh.

I like how Cain has Reagan-like sense of humor. He is rolling through Alabama wearing that hat. Meanwhile he has an ad out with one of his advisors smoking a cigarette and basically sticking a middle finger to the establishment. then theres a smile on his face.
He is really enjoying himself. people like that
If the town halls are televised, I’ll be watching all of them!
People do like a President who is both capable and has a good sense of humor like President Reagan did. He was both smart enough to surround himself with gifted men and wise enough to understand the truth of the evil Washington political establishment and yet appeal to the bright of the American people who loved him.
Herman Cain is smart but he needs to answer the tough questions that are on the minds and hearts of the American people, questions that are not asked by journalists. Town halls are good for that.
We need a conservative like Cain, not a pre picked GOP liberal democrat like Romney or another middle of the road rino like Perry. The big tent is for democrats only.
Mr.Herman Cains shows attributes that a President needs to have in order for America to survive the obamination of liberal anti work, anti jobs, anti freedom, anti family and anti Christ policies of the left.
I think he would make a good President and conservative patriots need a good man to fight against evil DC democrats.
Is this his ‘dial it back’ strategy?
LOL! I'm not sure---they're such small, small men with such teeny tiny minds, it's hard to tell.
I am on the Cain train!
Yeah, I heard about that. I'm sure there's a memo floating around somewhere that someone didn't get, but this doesn't look at all dialed back to me. :)
I just need to go to a notary I was planning on going Monday (For Illinois). You wouldn't believe how many folks were very enthusiastic to sign the petition for Cain.
Even in this communist hell hole of a state people are waking up to Obama and realize Cain is the real deal!!!
key word there is LIKE.
How can I get into one of those NH town hall meetings? I want to show my enthusiastic support.
Right now the best way to get news for your area is to join http://teamcain.hermancain.com and sign up for your state group. Also - this group has grassroots Cain supporters and announcements in every state - http://electcain.com/default.aspx (choose your state)
Did y’all get this one pinged? Lots of good stuff.
Just made another donation to Cain.. Whenever I see him do something I like, I donate $9.99. :)
Can’t be, I mean the LA Times clearly said he’s losing steam.
hehe I do that too with Cain and Free Republic. Whenever I get hate mail from some commie saying FR is a hate site, I donate and I always donate to Cain, looking forward to Tuesday with the Tool O'Reilly, hopefully Cain will have Billy spinning wildly to the point where he has no choice but abandon Fox and set up shop permanently with his buddies at Comedy Central.
Here we go.
The poster didn't say that Cain was Reagan.
I really don’t think that weird smile thing works, but if it is, keep it.
I hated the smoking ad but it certainly got attention!
Just think “Not on Board” Maybe 1975 vs 2011.
I am actually starting to get excited about this election.
I wasn’t before even liking Cain because I just didn’t see him as a “wow” candidate with a chance of winning.
Though I am still a bit concerned about his organization, he seems to have good people in place and seems to know what to do as he gets more money to spend it effectively. That will be an issue as the other heavyweights of course have more to spend.
This guy is refreshing and really is trying to take this campaign to the people at a level we haven’t seen in awhile. Ala McKinley though of course not from his porch but still largely with the people who actually will vote for him instead of trying to appeal to everybody.
George Wallace and Ronald Reagan did this exactly. They conected with people and PACKED auditoriums. Sarah Palin has it too. One of these were elected President, the other came close to it (shook up the race completely and in one case swept the south), and the other just about became Vice President and has a huge national following. This is what we call the “Big Mo”.
Yep, it works. Cain got a huge bump in his campaign contributions right after the smoking ad started getting buzz. The same people who love the ad love the enigmatic smile. People with money to spend. People who want to spend it on Mr. Herman Cain. :-)
New one on me.
I’m a Cain supporter but I’m also a realist.
He has a long, long way to go before he’s Reagan. At this point, he’s simply being himself, enjoying the ride and putting forth a good message. He’s off to a good start but it’s a long road and it’s got a lot of land mines to avoid.
I can’t spend because I am unemployed thanks to Dear Reader but I will write a check for $9.99. I will volunteer as much as possible to keep the Cain Train moving along.
Still brings misty eyes my way.
