The former House Speaker told a jam-packed Chick-fil-A here Friday that he considers the businessman, a fellow Georgia resident, a good friend. “But I think in terms of practical, deep understanding of America that we just operate in two different worlds, we’ve had two different career tracks,” said Gingrich

The excerpt doesn't do it justice -- watch/listen to the video for yourself.

Also note the cut in the video right after Gingrich says "Herman is a good friend of ours. Okay? You're not going to hear me attack Herman Cain."

Sure would like to know what they cut out.

Yes, Newt —HE never sold out. HE never changed his tune —never. And YOU did. And you might again. So forget it.

Will Newt tout his couch time with Pelosi? I’m pretty sure Cain would have trouble matching that type of experience...

In a good way, this probably will be about as vain an effort as when Hillary tried to convince the Democrats that her experience beat the pants off of Obama’s.

Except this time, it’s Republicans who actually care about the content of the experience. Newt has promulgated some very wonderful ideas. He has also taken a lot of ignominious pratfalls that you think he’d have been intelligent enough to avoid. “Checkered” is a genteel way of putting it. Promise to make Newt a czar or something in Cain’s cabinet, but please don’t put him in the Oval Office because it will only be a short time till he screws something up mightily.

The former House Speaker told a jam-packed Chick-fil-A here Friday

Gee what's next? Campaign rally at Waffle House?

With all due respect, Newt has done really well as the attack dog against Obama and the media in the debates. Seeing that they are friends, maybe the VP slot for him in a tag team as the VP is often relied upon to be the attack dog for the administration. The debate in Texas on the 5th has the potential to be monumental provided both will focus on the big picture, which I expect.

Even yet if I was Cain, I’d wonder what a Newt Veep would go barking after next.

Newty worked for this dude. I will have no problem voting for him but I worry about these left leaning ideals.

Newt would make a heckuva Sec. of State I think. He knows history inside-out, and he has the right attitude about who our friends are, and aren’t. I like the idea of having his brain in the Cabinet but not stuck as Jojo Biden’s successor.

Although Missue G. would probably LOVE living in the Naval Observatory.

Newt is a fraud. In 2006 he was paid $300,000 by Freddie Mac to lobby for them in preventing pressure to reform it from conservatives call to do so! Right before the economic collapse and housing market fiasco led by Fannie & Freddie! Newt was telling Congress that everything is ok from Freddie and now with him riding a Tea Party wave is asking to reform Fannie and Freddie AFTER he got paid to defend and after the housing market collapse! I get sick and tired of people defending Newt and his “mistakes”

SoS wouldn’t be the worst use for Newt in a Cain (or Perry) administration, that’s sure.

And all these ‘experienced’ pols(D&R) have gotten us exactly where?? Unlike the ‘women of the street’ who at least get paid, the poor bastard voters are getting the ‘business end’ and paying for the privilege.....over and over again.

Face it, at the debates Gingrich is the only grownup in the room.

His depth of knowledge is unsurpassed, he plays chess while the others play checkers.

Those who would vote for an untested individual who has never held office during times like these should have their heads examined.

I thought Republicans were smarter than that.
