http://www.cobasys.com/pdf/tutorial/inside_nimh_battery_technology.pdf ~ fairly lengthy but the electrode involves using protons for charge exchange. I recall reading this years ago but it’s still a top draw on the look up for BATTERY

A positive charge would be removing electrons. A negative, the opposite.
