Perry: Unlike Romney, I Don't Have a Problem Telling the Truth
Fox News Sunday ^ | October 30, 2011 | Gov Perry interviews by Chris Wallace

Posted on 10/30/2011 8:09:51 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

He acknowledges not being the best debater, but Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry says he has something that his top rival, Mitt Romney, doesn't -- consistency.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," the Texas governor said Romney has been on both sides of the issues of gun control, abortion and gay rights, among other topics. While that leaves people guessing about how Romney would run the country, Perry said his record as a "consistent conservative" is a reliable marker of how he'd govern.

......Perry said according to his plan, the highest income earners will like get the biggest break -- because they'll opt for the flat tax -- but they can take that money and pump it back into the economy to create jobs and invest.

"This plan is about getting people back to work, putting the confidence back in the American entrepreneur (who) know the regulations are not going to be there," he said.

"I don't want more revenue in Washington, D.C.'s hands. I want more revenue in the private sector, job creators' hands, and American citizens out there. I guarantee you, they'll make better decisions about how to spend that money than Washington, D.C.," Perry said.

You mean the same as Cain reminds some people of Barack Obama?

That’s funny. Cain looks like a man. Obama looks more like a teenage girl.

I’ve never heard anyone but YOU just now make that claim. I have heard many call Perry “Bush 3”

I too am grateful for Perry’s honesty, and his loyalty and openness to his dangerously stupid ideas on illegal immigration.

Very Walter Mondale like.

“lonestar’s” comment pointed out with laser like accuracy the completely stupidity and irrelevance of “bigbob’s” comparison.

He was really impressive and it just makes his awkwardness in the debates all the more puzzling

I think that the one minute given to explain anything is just too short for Perry. Perry is extremely intelligent but if you look closely it take a few precious seconds for his thought process to get started and then the time is up so he speeds and makes mistakes. And when it kicks in, he is right on. These gotcha interviews are pure crap. No doubt Perry is the best for President and, irregardless what anyone thinks, Newt is a giant on Constitution.

Perry doesn’t like confrontation with people he doesn’t consider the opposition. Note his preference for positive statements and against accusations. He opposed Romney in the last two debates, but has avoided atttacks most of the time.

Let's see Rick tell the truth about:

Pushing and funding TTC and violating individual property rights

Writing an executive order to implement Gardasil innoculations forcing Texas parents to "opt out" instead of requesting to opt in.

Fraud, Waste and Abuse of his very own state provided slush ETF/TEF funds for job development

Allowing sanctuary cities to remain in place

Bad agri-business loans as Ag commissioner

Engaging in highly speculative "green energy" projects

Just to name a few...Come on Rick, be a Christian man that you claim to be and 'fess up.

You’re making the accusations.

Make your case instead of ticking of opposition talking points.

Facts are facts. I’m not in the 24/7 paid shill business like you with pre-constructed talking point SPAM to spew. Will Perry man up and be truthful on his record or just weasel his way around using operatives to attempt to cover his tracks? Will Rick ever justify his ham fisted, crony filled big government actions, or just hope and pray no one will take notice by offering up populist schemes for the masses?

Rick Perry did great in the interview with Chris Wallace. There really is NO other candidate imo that would be the best for America.

Don’t forget that you’re covering a man who has been in office for 11 years of leadership; leadership that has resulted in reelection 3 times and more jobs than the rest of the Nation since 2006.

Representative Wayne Christian explains the TTC

On Gardasil, the Legislature passed the opt out in 2005, the Governor made it easier by putting the application online in 2007 with his Executive Order.
More about Gardasil:

What “Fraud, Waste and Abuse” in the TEF? Do you have specific proof rather than emotionally weighted words?

Our Governor doesn’t have power over local city councils and police chiefs and sheriffs. He did put the sanctuary cities on the emergency agenda for our 4 month 2011 82 Legislature and then added it to the restricted agenda of the 30 day Special Session. Even the libs said he “twisted arms” to get it passed. Our Legislature declined.

The Agricultural Commissioner’s job is to promote agriculture, including high risk start ups.

Those “green” projects were the result of benchmarks mandated by the Feds and EPA and pro-active against what appeared to be the imminent passage of “Cap and Trade.” In the meantime, Texas has not stunted the traditional energy industry (unlike others) and has limited the Fed’s job- and industry- killing regulations.

Even the EPA has had to admit that Texas has been successful:

One thing about Romney that really bothers me is that he’s been running for President for YEARS.

So has Herman Cain. :)

Spoke with many 20-30 year olds last night. A lot of them like Cain, but when I pressed as to why the common sentiment appeared to be because he's a black Republican. I suspect many now favoring Cain do so for the reason many supported Obama - white guilt. When I inquired about policy these younger voters didn't know 999 from 911! I sense that a broad avenue of opportunity is open for Rick Perry to drive right on up and through. Note the wide array of issues he's speaking out on, and he is being specific - no 'catchy soundbites', just straight talk from a straight shooter!

Aside: My fifth trip to Texas (previously visited San Antonio, Houston; Ft Worth) Dallas by far has more pretty gals than any place I've ever been, with the exceptions of Ireland and France.

Oh, I see that Paul Ryan has spoken very favorably of Rick Perry's tax/econ proposals.

“The answer to your, question, a person headed for the bottom position in the polls. Mr. Illegal hugger himself, Rick “cat whipped” Perry. “

Yea, pretty much sums it up. Perry’s had a DECADE to figure out what illegal immigration is doing to Texas and he STILL sides with the Illegals.

We don’t have another decade. If we have another Amnesty (which Perry must support...since he STILL supports the Texas Dream Act), we’ll simply flip camps like California did and become a SOLID Democrat state. As it is now, we’re only about 55/45 Republican.

Thankfully the Republican base knows that and while the two or three multiple-identity people here can gush back and forth praising Perry on their various computer banks...the rest of the Republican Party has (thankfully) already written off Perry.
