A Letter from an Enraged Lady
EMAIL | NA | Patty Meyers, WYO

Posted on 10/30/2011 10:43:06 AM PDT by dvan

I Think She Is Upset!

Alan Simpson, Senator from Wyoming , Co-Chair of Obama's deficit commission, called senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared "Social Security" to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats. Here's a response in a letter from PATTY MYERS in Wyoming ... I think she is a little ticked off! She also tells it like it is!

"Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight..

1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY YEARS.

2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).

3 My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would have made Bernie Madoff proud..

4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age 67. NOW, you and your shill commission are proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.

5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now you morons propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because you idiots mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal money from Medicare to pay the bills.

6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why? Because you incompetent bastards spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling "bullshit" on your incompetence. Well, Captain Bullshit, I have a few questions for YOU.

1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?

2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?

3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?

4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or, as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?

It is you, Captain Bullshit, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the "greedy" ones. It is you and your fellow nutcases who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers. And for what? Votes. That's right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic political careers. You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it.

And you can take that to the bank, you miserable son of a bitch.

If you like the way things are in America delete this. If you agree with what a fellow Wyoming citizen Patty Myers says, PASS IT ON!!!

If Simpson is not part of the problem then he would sure help himself by shutting his pie hole. I know I don’t want to hear his smarmy blame-the-people BS.

It's how it was sold. Took a while to 'get' the reality. It's going to be the same with health care dollars... did you know that, Stosh?

Obama and team are going to sell health care the same way - everyone puts in from their paychecks - and expects payments to be handled like an insurance company would do ( investing - knowing young people pay more than what they 'get' and take more health care dollars when they're old)

Like Social Security, the gov will pretend it's taking in designated dollars, but they'll spend the funds on the same dem victim groups they always spend money on.... When middle aged citizens of today get older they'll be faced with 'It's an entitlement and must be cut' - their health care dollars gone - spent on 'job training' for folks who will never accept a job - or people 'disabled' because they want to play 'baby in diaper' or whatever.

Dems have favorites - and those victim groups WILL get their money from the middle class... even while the middle class is being lied to about how the money is to be used..

Dem crooks should NOT be allowed to call ANY taxes they create anything OTHER than SLUSH fund taxes.

Didn’t say Simpson wasn’t part of the problem - I did say the donkey party was the major - MAJOR - reason for the problem.

Sorry if it sounds like I’m blaming the lady in question - but if she’d laid out this rant 20 years ago when things were fixable (instead of believing in some silly Social Security lock box fiction) we might be in better shape now.

The Social Security account was a separate budget item with a huge amount in the black until 1968 when President Johnson raided it. Johnson created what they euphemistically called a unified budget. That let Johnson use current accounts to pay Social Security and then use the huge amassed amount to pay for his Great Society and the war in Viet Nam. (They essentially bought Democratic cotton candy and beer; blowing the money on nothing permanent and solving no problems.) The government wrote IOU’s to Social Security. It was probably one of the greatest robbery schemes in history.

Although there is still probably plenty of road left to kick the can down, more and more people realize that is what’s happening. No politician wants to be the one to stop kicking the can down the road as whoever that is will have to stop spending money like we can just print up more of it….hey, we can print more of it… so they will.

No need to speak of it hypothetically. They are already cutting out areas of coverage and it hasn't even gone into effect yet.

“As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY YEARS. “

All one has to do is look in the mirror and see that it’s the stupid American voter constantly re-electing these people to office.

I heard recently on Rush or Beck that congressmen are not subject to Wall Street insider-trading restrictions. I find that incredulous if that is true.

How do you know she didn't? Did you?

Been saying it for decades, to everyone I know.

Don’t know her - I have no idea who she speaks to or what she’s said in the past.

Real, or more likely apocryphal, the letter is pretty good. Despite that, I approve of moving the "goalposts". Not for those within 15 years of retirement, when they might already be preparing for that transition, but for the rest of us. We should tack another 1, 2, or 3 months per year onto the retirement age until it gets up to 70 or even 72 years. The proportion of our population over 65 is too high to sustain Social Security. It's dishonest to move the goalposts on those nearing the promised age, but it's equally dishonest to leave them where they are for my generation, since our children can't afford to support that large a cohort of healthy retirees.

Because the taxes collected from "you, and millions of other Americans" don't come close to paying for the services you receive and expect to receive in the future.

Very true, but who's fault is that? I submit it not the fault of the retiree. No retiree could have been expected to sit down thirty years ago and do an actuarial study on social security.

That's the job of the government. I entirely blame the foolish politicians who set this up in the first place.

Of course, assessing blame does not help fix the problem.

No, for all you know she has been standing up in town hall meetings for decades and some other Republican voter shushed and criticized her instead of backing her up.

I hope she has, and if so, she has my most sincere gratitude.

But I don’t have any evidence of that. All I have evidence for is that she apparently thought her Social Security funds were safely locked away in a secure fund. And as a poster above has pointed out, the Democrats took care of that fiction more than 40 years ago, when the woman in question was just starting her FICA contributions.

We’re a democracy - we get the government we deserve based on the people we elect. If we keep electing Democrats, we’ll keep getting this crap. If we elect Republicans, we still keep getting much of this crap, but at least we’ll have some Paul Ryans and Jim DeMints and Marco Rubios who are willing to take a shot at fixing things.

That’s my only point. Alan Simpson isn’t the problem. The lady who wrote the letter isn’t the problem. The Democrat Party is the problem. If that lady (if she exists) recognizes that, I have no problem with her.

If she doesn’t, she has a problem.

I don't think so. I think Baraq is a landslide loser in 2012.

Hopefully he's a loser but I dont see a landslide. The moron majorities is states like Ca, NY, MA, MD, WA, OR, IL and others will prevent a landslide. I hope I'm totally wrong about that but as long as Barry is a loser in 2012 then same result.

No ma'am. SS has served as the government slush fund since 1942.

"...safely tucked away in an interest bearing account..."

Some truth here until LBJ took the locks off and gave SS proceeds to the Congress for his "Great Society" which continues to bankrupt our nation with his, other presidents and now Obama's grandiose ideas....just smoke for votes.

The Democrat party represents its constituents and fights tooth and nail to do so as one would expect in a representative republic. The Republican party does not. So who is the problem?
