James Carville: Why Rick Perry's Presidential Bid is Toast
CNN ^ | October 29, 2011

Posted on 10/30/2011 12:30:33 PM PDT by drewh

When Rick Perry announced he was running for president back on August 13, to tell you the truth I got a little excited.

Now I know what you're thinking -- James you are a big Democrat, why on earth would you be excited about Perry running for president?

This was my thinking: Perry would get in and he would be a major force.

He was the bona fide conservative complete with a pedigree to take on Romney.

With the way things are shaping up now, the convention planners might be more inclined to take a motivational speaker. Hey Rick -- you are costing me airtime!

There is a dirty little secret about political people.

If you really love it, you hope for a good race that goes on and you enjoy watching people who are skilled at doing this.

It is literally painful to watch Rick Perry as a candidate. The case could be made that Rick Perry is the worst debater to ever run for president.

As far as I know he can't even give a good speech.

Not only can he not give an interview, he can't even roll out his flat tax plan. He steps all over it by saying, "Oh by the way, it's optional anyway."

Not only is Rick Perry utterly incapable of running for president, and in fact can't meet the basic requirement for any politician -- he can't even run his mouth.

To tell you the truth, it's gotten so bad people in Louisiana are actually starting to make Texas jokes.

If this thing gets any worse the people in Mississippi will be making Texas jokes -- then you've really hit rock bottom.

Rick, you have managed to embarrass yourself. So I guess you are good at something after all.

“If this thing gets any worse the people in Mississippi will be making Texas jokes — then you’ve really hit rock bottom.”

That’s hilarious.

Isn’t Carville the prognosticator who proclaimed that the election of Barky would put the ‘Rats in charge for the next 40 years? I believe he even wrote a book about it. Carville is a turd.

Carville has benefitted from the MSM`s habit of mistaking common talk for common sense. He just babbles insulting and `colorful` bilge and claims it`s straight talk. But he doesn`t seem to know more than any other talking head. He`s their token `southern drawler.`

“If this thing gets any worse the people in Mississippi will be making Texas jokes — then you’ve really hit rock bottom.”

Reminds me of now-deceased comedian Bill Hicks cracking a joke about Oklahoma, “Oklahoma-The only state Arkansas can make fun of. When you have Arkansas raggin’ your ass, you’re pretty low down on the food chain.”

Here’s the video of this routine.

Carville is a comedian. I laugh at his jokes but I consider the source. He spews the latest talking points for a joke. But in politics the story-line changes on a daily basis.

True. Carville is wrong as often as he is right. I recall the election night on national TV when he put a waste basket over his head when reminded of his pre-election predictions.

At least he has a sense of humor, and he doesn't hate America.

Snakehead: "Not only is Rick Perry utterly incapable of running for president, and in fact can't meet the basic requirement for any politician -- he can't even run his mouth."

Snakehead is most likely shilling for Hillary, but he surely has Perry pegged correctly.

FauxNews has been running this latest Perry promotional interview non-stop all weekend, trying to make Perry appear not too dangerously stupid to be a vanity candidate -- and it is not working.

I seriously doubt that carville feels threatened by a Perry candidacy. I think carville is a hack, cockroach scumbag, but he nailed some of Perry’s several faults to date.

I wish there were some way to track the predictions of these people.

If being un-American or pro-American is a measure of a pundit, we’re in serious trouble. Though I do agree with you, it IS perfectly clear which ones are which.

Carville ‘got some’ the other night from his conservative wife for saying something nice about Perry. Don’t take him too seriously.

Do you really think a guy who has never won office, who has said abortion shouldn't be part of the political discussion, who is an actual preacher, and is for a national sales tax and a national income tax and has a youtube video where 4 white people place a white robe on him as he sings "Imagine there's no pizza" is gonna beat Obama?

Man ya'll are smoking something.

If it ain't Perry it's for sure going to be Romney because the Republicans want to beat Obama not just make a political statement.

I didn’t say he was an Air Force Lt., 2 term Governor of California and second in delegate count in the 1976 Republican nominating process.

Yeah but Reagan had a political record to look at. A 2 term governor of a powerful state. Cain has zero record to compare his rhetoric too. Just a bunch of people who like his speeches, give him passes on flubs and expect everyone to jump on his band wagon.

I want to beat Obama and Cain gives us nothing Perry and Romney don't already give us he only can hurt us in the general election because people are voting for President.

the more I see the 25% fervor over Cain, the more I am convinced Romney will be our nominee.

Someone pointed out that the Republicans changed the rules for the Pre-April primaries, averaging the results this time.

It was most likely done to favor Romney, but it probably is going to work to the benefit of popular candidate like Cain, and against Romney, who can’t break that 25% glass ceiling.

There is no better time than now to have a real conservative as the R candidate. Obama is going to be trashed by a real conservative, or will run a close race with RINO.
