Is there any way to prove your allegation, Lloyd, that "some {media} desire to see Tebow fail because he is so outspoken regarding his christian faith." or is this supposition on your part?
Are you happy that Mr. Tebow expressed his opinion on his religion and gave his god credit for his performance and the victory....or is it that you are happy because his thanks went to the christian god?
Would you be as happy, Lloyd, if a quarterback gave thanks to his god (Allah, Buddah, Jehova, whoever) who just happens to be not your god, as is their right to do here in America?
And isn't it strange that the same god to whom Tebow gave credit for his performance and victory, is exactly the same god the opposing team prayed to for victory...but came away disappointed?
Religion sure is a strange thing, ain't it?
Looks like Tebow got fed to the Lions yesterday.
I’m reminded of the story about Pat Kelly when he was a member of the Baltimore Orioles being managed by Earl Weaver, late 70s or early 80’s IIRC.
Pat was a very religious guy, and Earl was (is) not.

Sports fans don’t give a flying hoot about a player’s religious beliefs. They’re meaningless between the lines.
Tebow took what he may not have recognized as a political stance, and like others taking a political stance, got beaten up for it. He seems to have weathered it no problem. It’s the commentators who can’t get over it. JMO.
IMHO Tebow is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn’t : /
If he takes off, the powers that be say he runs because he does not have the skills to stay in the pocket, if he stays in the pocket waiting for Denver receivers to open up, and the line to hold, he tends to get caught. To me, as a Gator, I see him clearly steeling himself to NOT run, in order to prove he can do other things....
We hope Tebow watches the film from yesterday and realizes just how seriously the status quo wants him to fail.... a hard truth but real.
We have no doubt that Tebow will succeed in so many ways, but it is our hope that he will not spend too much more of his time or effort trying to prove himself to folks who discount and disparage his successes.
May God guide our course.

Second, Buddhism as a system is agnostic about the existence or preferred forms of workship of a Supreme Being. Buddha did not consider himself God, and is not considered God by most Buddhists. As for this "Jehova" you mention--- if you mean the God of Judaism, this is the same entity as the God of Christianity. So praising Him would not bug Christians.
As for Allah: the general atitutde of FReepers toward Islam is pretty well known to you, so I will leave that unremarked.
My point: none of this will necessarily alter your underlying animus against religion, but in the future, your argument could only benefit from a bit more accuracy.
Minor college, maybe. Major colleges don't care about integrity. It's all about money and winning, and until Tebow does that somewhere then he hasn't a prayer. NFL? Even worse.
Tebow the Palin of the NFL. Media hate them, people love them and they condem both before giving them a chance to prove themselves.
I give him a pass the last few games. Isn't he playing with broken ribs? Man, I can't imagine how uncomfortable that is.
I love Tebow, the man, but the media hype over him was over the top.

Meanwhile, the QB that played across the Metroplex at TCU, and was there for the taking by the Cowboys, is on his way to NFL Rookie of the Year.
He was only in college for four years. Actually 3.5 years.

Tebow can be passive in the face of persecution if he wants to but my first reaction to those two sacriligious opponents who were aping Tim’s prayer pose just to mock him was to yell, “Get up and assume the Heisman Trophy posture in their face, stiff arm and all.”
Tebow drives them crazy because he is not only devout, he has been devout while enjoying great athletic success. Jealousy figures as much in the mockery and criticism of him as anything else.
I think Jerry Jones made the decision to get Romo and isn't good at admitting mistakes.
Whatever "it" is, Romo doesn't have "it."
I'm not a Cowboys' fan...can't stand JJ!
..therefore he is fully realized in who he is and who he belongs to.
'They' flat out don't understand this, but they feel threatened by it.
