The United States will not pay $60 million to a U.N. cultural and educational agency after it voted Monday to accept the Palestinian mission as a full member, triggering a U.S. requirement to cut off funds.
"We are not going to be able to continue contributing to the budget," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said. "Palestinian membership as a state in UNESCO triggers longstanding legislative restrictions which will compel the United States to refrain from making contributions to UNESCO."
Washington is required by law to cut off funding to any U.N. agency if the Palestinian Liberation Organization is granted membership in any group at the international body.

The U.S. rejoined UNESCO in 2002, after having left the organization 19 years earlier.
An aide to House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen said the congresswoman supports full enforcement of the law, without exception.
Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., has also introduced legislation that would withhold U.S. contributions from any U.N. agency or program that “upgrades” the status of the Palestinian observer mission at the U.N, whether full membership or not.

The United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is mostly now centered on "Cultural Organization" and is as bad or worse than the United Nations Human Rights Council. Google "UN Human Rights Council" and you'll see some of the worst offenders of human rights are on that Council.
That UN org now has Cuba, Saudi Arabia, China, Congo, and so many more on the council. How many resolutions has the UN councils passed against the peaceful Israelis, and not a one against Iran and Syria who back Hezbollah and Hamas? Talk about hypocrisy. What a worthless bunch of a**hats.
Between UNESCO and the Human Rights Council, the UN has become so corrupt, biased, and self-serving against Western civilization that I truly believe it should be disbanded. Of course, I never thought it worth much, but it's getting worse.
If not disbanded, then get them the hell out of our Country, and let them push their one-world, anti-free enterprise, anti-Israel, and pro-socialist/communist agenda somewhere else. If America did such, it would make them less credible. Good thing.

And while we're at it, disband NATO. There is no longer any need for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It only gets us into conflicts we should have no part of - think Libya. If the SHTF, we can always aligned with those countries who have liberty's best interests at heart. Think WWII. There was no NATO; no UNITED NATIONS. Simple survival and protection of freedom. The Israelis unilaterally pulled out of Gaza some years ago where most of the palis live. I would think that gave them their Nation. So I vote yes, in the UN, they have their nation. While, they can have the land, what I like most about the palis having a designated nation, once they are a world-accepted nation, when they attack Israel, she can bomb them out of existence when they continue to attack. Maybe that's why the national community is so reluctant to give them their Country. Think?
What am I getting wrong? They want to go back to pre-1967 and get EVERYTHING they want so they can continue their intifadas against the Jews and suck up resources from other Countrys. They refuse to do anything for themselves, other than teach their hate and whine and cry and not even attempt to produce. No wonder the rest of the Arab worlds has ignored them and refused to take them in.
