Another Question, This Time Financial, for Herman Cain
The New York Times ^ | October 31, 2011 | NICHOLAS CONFESSORE

Posted on 10/31/2011 3:36:34 PM PDT by mdittmar

Early in his candidacy, Herman Cain may have accepted tens of thousands of dollars in goods and services for his campaign from a tax-exempt organization founded by his top aide, documents from the organization show, raising the prospect of serious violations of tax and election law by both Mr. Cain’s campaign and the organization.

The documents suggest that the nonprofit organization, Prosperity USA, effectively subsidized some early costs of his presidential bid, paying for computer equipment, charter planes and air travel for Mr. Cain or the aide, Mark Block, who is his chief of staff.

Such expenditures would violate federal election and campaign laws, which prohibit tax-exempt groups from engaging in any political activity or contributing to election campaigns, a major problem for Mr. Cain. He spent much of Monday fending off accusations that he had sexually harassed two former employees of a trade association he once led.

This is a problem for the non-profit not the candidate.

No Friday news dumps for Cain.

Nope. Nosirree - he gets the double whammy, tag-team effort on Monday from the JournoLists of the MSM.

Let’s start the week off with sex and financial allegations first thing monday morning.

Wake me up when Herman Cain is accused of funneling campaign funds to hide an illegitimate baby-mama and newborn infant.

Even that won't get someone on the other side of the aisle to drop out of the race. The only thing that can tarnish a Democrat is getting caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy.

No reason to think this is coming from the Dems.

I wouldn't put it past Rove. He is actively helping Romney almost every day on Fox News.

Who cares?

The only reason election finance laws exist is to help incumbents and make it hard for newcomers to be competitive.

And, as Obama showed last time, if you don’t like the election laws you can just opt out.

Interesting that non profits can not support a candidate, but non profit environmental groups pulled out all of the stops to keep Richard Pombo in California from being reelected. Or does the law saw non profits can only spend money to influence election where they are trying to get rid of conservatives?

He says he’s been deemed cancer-free. If I were him, I’d say I’d be willing to release particulars from the doctors when Obama releases his medical records.

CAIN is toast

Why, because of some trumped up, bogus charges from the RAT bastard liberal media, especially the NY Times? It is unbelievable how the liberal media can grab ahold of vague slurs or anonymous accusations against a conservative Repub contender, but somehow can't find anything to investigate on 0dumb0, like millions raked in from overseas to his campaign in 2008 and already starting now for 2012, or his multiple social security numbers, or his current Connecticut social security number, or his sealed state senate records or his sealed school transcripts, etc., etc..

I hope that Cain comes right back swinging hard, and demanding answers from the media on countless 0dumb0 violations of the law. And hit 'em really hard on their hypocrisies and blatant pandering for 0dumb0.

You’re known by the enemies you keep. So it would appear that Herman Cain’s credentials are impeccable.

“I’ve noticed the media is keeping their powder dry on Mr. Cain’s cancer survival.”

I’ve noticed as well. Once the cancer “concern” stories come out, you know they’re running scared. They’re just practicing with this bullmitt story.

“No reason to think this is coming from the Dems.”

This stinks of the establishment gop and it’s minions. The only real question is: was it mittens or ricky? How you can tell this is gop: the dems would do a better job lining up the information beforehand and would have more discipline with the timing. They’d wait till there wasn’t enough time launch a defense and let loose then. Kind of like the DUI issue with GWB in 2000.

Cui bono?
