South Carolina sheriff urges women to carry guns

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) A South Carolina sheriff is urging women to get concealed weapons permits and carry guns to protect themselves.
Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright made the suggestion Monday while discussing the arrest of a suspect in an attempted rape last weekend.
Wright suggests that women carry a .45-caliber weapon because he says they wouldn't have to be accurate, just close to the target.

Winchester has 410 shells (PDX1 410) designed specifically for this pistol. The shells have three .38 discs plus a charge of BB shot.
I was just reading about the ammo at: http://www.410handguns.com/410_federal_ammunition.html#top
and the gun itself at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taurus_Judge#Models.
I dunno - shouldn’t say too much just from reading about it, but does sound pretty bizarre. Shallow rifling so it won’t be categorized as an under length shotgun but still won’t disperse the buck too much.... It just seems like there are so many negatives when there are so many other choices, like a weapon with few variables where you can reduce even those by serious practice. Anyway, this is a discussion best had over a few beers rather than online. :-)
?
No. The rifling allows you to shoot .45 Long Colt accurately.
Normally, a shotcup in the .410 load would start spinning when it hit the rifling and would spread the shot pattern, but the handgun loads for the .45LC-.410 are loaded without shotcups so the rifling has no effect on the shot pattern.
They are really effective for defense. At ten feet, well...you can imagine.
ROTFLMAO.....sorry...he’s ours!
