Lanny Breuer, the Justice Department’s assistant attorney general who runs the criminal division, tells The Wall Street Journal that he wishes he had acted to prevent the “gun-walking” tactics that are under scrutiny in the Fast and Furious operation:

The earlier operation that caused concern was known as Wide Receiver, which Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents in Arizona ran in 2006-2007. ...

WSJ...The Justice Department's top criminal division official said Monday he regretted not doing more last year to ensure federal agents weren't letting suspected traffickers buy firearms to smuggle to Mexico, after learning about similar tactics in an earlier operation.
So, Lanny, you find out about these "similar tactics" (not the "same tactics") from 5+ years ago and only after Gunrunner comes to light do you regret not doing something about that which you claim you knew nothing about in the first place? Have I got that right?

Here is the kicker to me. "Somebody" went on to knowingly and deliberately use in Gunrunner, and repeatedly, the one single illegal aspect of Wide Receiver which caused the program to be canceled.

Apologies and "regret" doesn't cut it by a long shot!

We’re fortunate to be paying Lanny to help poor H0lder. Think how bad things would be without Lanny’s guidance.

Lanny Breuer, assistant attorney general in charge of the criminal division, and his staff reacted with alarm in the spring of 2010 after they learned about the tactics. (of their opponent's tactics in a previous program)
Lanny and his staff didn't react with alarm when they learned their own administration had been caught doing the same thing?

Lanny and his staff should have reacted with alarm when he first heard about Gunrunner.

Ooops...silly me. Lanny and his staff didn't know anything about Gunrunner so how could Lanny and his staff have reacted to that. My bad.

Guess what... the wikipedia write up on wide receiver is gone and filled with a new one comparing wide receiver with fast and furious and making it appear as if Obama and Holder inherited Bush crimes.

Appears they have read their Orwell!

The time for half-answers is over. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison
Dear God, this woman can't even use common expressions in the fear that it will indicate she believes someone has spoken a lie.

Who in their right mind doesn't say half-truths?
And half-truths are nothing but CYA lies.

"The Grandmother"

And the parson made it his text that week, and he said likewise,
That a lie which is half a truth is ever the blackest of lies,
That a lie which is all a lie may be met and fought with outright,
But a lie which is part a truth is a harder matter to fight.

Alfred Lord Tennyson

Wouldn't you just love to be able to read what is on that paper under Holder's left hand.

My thoughts as well but the blame Bush crap won’t work.Holder saying he was thinking about another operation under Bush when he was asked about fast and furious won’t work.

Yep, Holder has pulled one noose from around his neck and replaced it with another. The more culpability they place on the Bush era program the more responsibility Holder has to take for its continuance and its reemergence in a new and even more irresponsible program.
