Sharpton: Republicans Can't 'Use Christianity' Then Vote Against Welfare
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Call yourself a Christian? Then you can't oppose whatever welfare programs the Democrats come up with. So in effect argued Al Sharpton on his MSNBC show this evening.

In the course of criticizing House Republicans for having passed a bill reaffirming "In God We Trust" as the national motto, Sharpton somehow equated Christianity with support for the liberal agenda. And although I'm the opposite of an expert on Christian theology, he also came up with a formulation on faith and works that might be surprising to some Protestants.

. It was left up to the INDIVIDUAL and THE CHURCH for tithing. NOT for the government ... to redistribute...

The government IS their church! For the left, government is the religion.

“Republicans Can’t ‘Use Christianity’ Then Vote Against Welfare”
_____________________________________________

I should have tried that line with my banker, who was owner of the bank, as well as a devout and church building Christian.

Sharpton: Republicans Can't 'Use Christianity' Then Vote Against Welfare

If sharpie were a Christian, he'd realize that the state robs man of his free will to serve God by confiscating that which man would designate for good will towards his fellow man. Defying God and preventing his true servants from doing his will is an act of evil, not "welfare".

I just love it when the left wants to “help” me along in my Christian duties by confiscatory tax and redistribution policies. I would gladly give 10% to the poor out of a benevolent heart, but I don’t like Caesar as the middle man — he is inefficient and quite corrupt, and is never satisfied with 10%. Caesar always demands more than the good Lord ever asked.

We are commanded to help the poor.. but we are also commanded to be good stuards of the money God has blessed us with and we are also commanded to not cause another to stumble.

So the task for us is to determine who is in actual need to help, and how to give them the help they need without worsening their situation.

How is a heroin addict helped if we give him $20 bucks that he then uses to buy the hit that takes his life Mr Sharpton?

The Dems have kept the Blacks at the government trough for the past 60 years. The GOP wants to get them off of the welfare rolls and into a productive job giving them self-respect. I’m not a Christian but I would say that the GOP way is the Christian thing to do.

It may well be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for Al Sharpton to get into heaven. I don’t know that for sure but I think the possibility should be considered.

False prophets, teachers and those claiming to be the next Christ will always be among us until the return of our true savior.

Pay them no heed, lest you risk your eternal soul in favor of this world instead of the one God has set for His own.

And Jesus did NOT tell the rich young ruler to give his money to Zaccheus so the Roman government could help the poor!

The Bible is where we get the idea of limited government. Parents are supposed to educate their children, the Church is to help the widows, orphans and handicapped, and the government is to bear the sword to punish criminals. Furthermore, those who won’t work are not supposed to eat, according to Paul.

A SECULAR government can do (or not do) anything it chooses. Even though our government was founded on Christian principles of limited government (29 of the 56 signers/authors of the Constitution had seminary degrees, yet we focus on the two least religious founders, Jefferson and Franklin) it has jumped the shark into controlling the education of our children, subsidizing abberant lifestyle choices, and letting crimes go unpunished.

Rev-rund Al is a useful idiot.

The “Reverend” Al Sharpton needs to read John 21 and realize that Jesus was NOT talking to Pilate when he said “feed my sheep”. He was talking to Peter.

Support for the needy is the responsibility of the individual Christian. NOT government.

Sharpton has lived off Welfare his whole life.

Other people’s Welfare, as they tossed the dollars over to him.

It doesn’t bother him one wit that people who he cheats out of their money are poor.

Al Sharpton has, for a seven figure sum, licensed his name to be used on a line of running shoes designed for ambulance chasing lawyers.
