Uh oh: Witness found to Cain incidents ?
Hot Air ^ | November 01, 2011 | Ed Morrissey

So far, neither of the two alleged complainants from Herman Cain’s tenure at the National Restaurant Association have come forward publicly, although it appears at least one would like NRA to release her from her confidentiality agreement to do so. However, a pollster who worked for NRA at the time told KTOK in Oklahoma that he witnessed both incidents — and that if the women talk, Cain’s candidacy would be over:

Interviewed today on KTOK’s Mullins in the Morning, [Chris] Wilson, of Wilson-Perkins-Allen Opinion Research headquartered in Washington, D.C. explained he was a witness to the incident. “I was the pollster at the National Restaurant Association when Herman Cain was head of it and I was around a couple of times when this happened and anyone who was involved with the NRA at the time, knew that this was gonna come up.”

Wilson described the woman as a low level staffer who was maybe two years out of college. “This occurred at a restaurant in Crystal City (Virginia) and everybody was aware of it,” he continued. “It was only a matter of time because so many people were aware of what took place, so many people were aware of her situation, the fact she left—everybody knew with the campaign that this would eventually come up.”

Hotair can’t wait to bury Cain and exaggerate unsubstantiated claims with unnamed sources.

This is close to my sending Cain some bucks.

It pains me to say this but I just don’t have a good feeling about where all this is going.

I would love to be wrong.

If there is a witness there is no telling how much incentive this person will receive for his information. It wouldn't matter if he/she is a partisan, the money involved could not be ignored by the average person. Cain better be telling the truth or he will go down with the sound of an atomic blast.

Next they’ll say that Cain’s too dumb to be president, because he sexually harassed a young staffer in a public restaurant, in front of a whole bunch of NRA workers.

for legal reasons, he can not discuss details of the incident.

This is completely bogus. There's no legal reason this guy can't talk.

As per other thread, Wilson used to work for Rove, now works for Perry.

I don’t know about the rest of you folks, but if I had this somewhere in my background, or any other negative incident, I would not even think of running for public office. It always comes out. Especially if you are a Republican. Keep those skeletons in your closet and find another interest besides politics.

I felt the same at the beginning of the Thomas/Hill affair. At the end, it was clear that Anita Hill was a pathetic fraud being used for political purposes. And, beside, after Bill Clinton, sexual harassment ceased to be an issue. Let not your heart be troubled.

Consultants often sign general non-disclosure statements that often are all encompassing. There’s no way to honestly say “there’s no legal reason this guy can’t talk”

Did someone see him do the Lewinsky? Or is this just more rumors, innuendos with smoke and mirrors? Is politics really so corrupt now that they fear anyone who is not evil to the core? Because that is what this looks like to me.

link from the article:

Former President of National Restaurant Association has Ties to the Mitt Romney Campaign

0diggsdiggBased on a suggestion from a local blogger to look into political donors on the Board of Directors of the National Restaurant Association for potential ties to presidential campaigns, I have attempted to identify anyone privy to inside information about the National Restaurant Association who also has recent ties to any presidential campaign.

According to the October 2011 FEC report for ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT INC. a gentlemen named Steven C. Anderson gave $1,000.00 on July 14, 2011. FEC search function here.

Steven C. Anderson is the same gentlemen who took over the helm as Chief Executive Officer at the National Restaurant Association (after a brief intermission) upon Herman Cain’s departure in 1999. As CEO it is highly likely he would have been privy to details of litigation and threats about litigation from the immediately previous tenure of Herman Cain.

There is little more than a coincidence between the support for Mitt Romney and the likelihood that Mr. Anderson knows the background of the sexual harassment threats. Nonetheless, watchers of this scandal endlessly pontificate about whether President Obama or a rival campaign is the driving force behind the bombshell story that appeared in the Politico on Sunday.

Reporters should follow-up with Mr. Anderson to discern his knowledge. At the least he likely knows the short list of people with inside knowledge about the sexual harassment allegations.

~23:15 11/1/11 UPDATE: Apparently as this post has taken on a life of its own I need to clarify a few things.

1. This truly is the exact same Steven C. Anderson at the same address that gave donations while at the National Restaurant Association in the early 2000’s.

2. I have purposefully not listed his address, and made it slightly difficult to find. There is an error in the FEC database that leads to a mistaken link for those who dig deeper. Rest assured he made the donation.

3. He may not be the source. If he is not, then he likely knows the short list of people who could have been the source.

Lastly, do not forget to follow @ppradoslaw on Twitter as I broadcast to thousands of conservatives libertarians, and a handful of patient moderates, democrats, and progressives.

They were all out to destroy Palin now they target Cain—what are they, big Mittbotts?
No wonder Milchele Malkin washed her hands of these RINO tools.

This is a nothing story kept alive by innuendo from far Left political hacks and lies from anonymous partisan sources and yet so-called “conservatives” run with the liberal talking points like they were their own.

Can Romney be THAT powerful?

Romney damage control. Trying to point finger at Perry staff.

O’Reilly said that if a repub did this they are finished. So Myth and Perrito are running hard on this thing.

At this point I’m wondering if we’re all better off hearing from the women - a non-sexual gesture that made her uncomfortable???? I hate this PC crap. Probably if it actually comes out it will all be much ado about nothing.

Unless he dropped his pants in front of her and told her to kiss it ( or do her with a cigar), or if he didn’t father a love child, or he didn’t leave her to drown in a car, I don’t see how this should impact his campaign.

This whole story reminds me of my dog (dog = media).

Every morning, 6:00 AM, she gets up at the first sound of movement in the house. She pesters the first able body without pause. Runs in circles, runs to the hall, runs back trying desperately to get the able body downstairs. She works herself into a panting frenzy in short sprints between the closest person and her dog dish. Her entire world, every morning, for a time, revolves around one of us pouring 1.5 cups of dry dog food into a bowl. She scarfs it down in 34 seconds. She then saunters upstairs to go back to sleep.

Really? All that and your going back to bed?

That will be how this story ends. “Well, that was fun.”
