The jihad does not have a high fixed cost maintenance expense. So, it can’t go bankrupt and subsequently disappear; like DEC inc. or Varian inc. It is more like a cloud of evil spores. The spores lie dormant until the conditions are right. Then the spores grow.
The conditions are as right for the jihad now (with Obambi in the WH) as they’ve ever been. After January 20th 2013, it is likely the war will start going against the jihad. The jihad, and Iran, will strike as hard as they can in the intervening months.

This wouldn't destroy Iran, and if anything it would make both the government and general population more radical and anti-American; don't kid yourself that the Green Movement protesters don't want Iran to have nuclear weapons.
And even massive strikes wouldn't end their nuclear capability - it would just delay nuclear weapons by a few years; thus Iran would have to be re-struck every couple of years or so till they gave up on their program.
With an oil-rich Libya falling into the islamist orbit and Egypt sliding in that direction, there are others who will fill the role of terror sponsor.
I sure hope you’re wrong but the likely-hood is certainly there it could go that way, but I think we’ll hear more saber rattling and manuvering of ships etc...all about who’s going to really take the first shot...more than once we’ve come up to almost the level of the Cuban Crisis...and there just a finger away from Nuclear War.
