Its been fascinating to watch both the Herman Cain camp and the Republican establishment react to the sexual harassment allegations brought to light about Herman Cain by Politico.
While it is still too soon to determine what exactly did happen years ago when Cain headed the National Restaurant Association (NRA), two things are clear Cain is still winging it (and not well), and the Republican establishment has been expertly conditioned by the left when it comes to kneejerk accusations of racism.
In politics, the reaction to a controversy is very often more enlightening and important than the details of the allegations themselves. Im still perplexed by the insistence by some on the right that Democrats or liberals somehow initiated these charges against Cain.
Cain has plenty of opponents, and while they may not be conservative, right now they all have Republican after their name.
As Cain has risen in the polls, one person in particular benefits from this attack and thats Mitt Romney. Perhaps many on the right do not want any GOP candidate smeared with, er, unleashing a smear? Whatever the reasoning, its Cains GOP opposition that has everything to gain from this new storm.
Combined with preferred but likely false declaration of liberal responsibility for the attack, is the even stranger assertion that racism is fueling the accusations. Actually, whats fueling the story is the fact that something happened at the National Restaurant Association involving Cain.

I agree, but the only one who seems ready for prime time is Romney, and I can’t bear that thought.
she’s going to regret this screed.
Cuz it's easier to lie than to tell the truth.
I don’t think Cain did anything wrong and that he has been falsely smeared but i agree that him and his team handling of it SO FAR is terrible. It’s almost amateur hour.

Schwartze-schlange was an a$$ when it came to chartering jets for his jaunts - he demanded only young and pretty female flight attendants when he chartered - “or else”.
And Obama? Donald Young: No justice, no peace.
Like her many posts "guaranteeing" an Obama loss in 2008, because "the American People will never elect someone like Obama". Her complacency was not exactly helpful.
if you knew about it 10 days in advance,
why would you show your cards until the opposition
revealed their attack?
I’m glad he took it head on, even though he didn’t have all the details at the get go, because what it did was show the American people he is trustworthy.
He didn’t hide for a day or two and get his story together like a politician would.
People responded to that - his support is growing exponentially and his fundraising is still through the roof.
None of the mainstream people get treated this way, so Cain’s reaction can’t be compared to their reaction.
And Obammie the Commie was ready for prime time?
“I just want to eat muh WAHfuls.”
“I won.”
Donald Trump told Greta that he thought Cain was doing “just fine” considering the fact that he has had a very sudden rise to the top and has a small organization. I agree, and hope Cain fires a bunch of folks and brings in some more seasoned pros - preferably NONE of whom have ever worked for H.W. or G.W. Bush, Romney or McCain.
The GOP’s reaction to the blatant smear on Cain shows me that it’s full of a bunch of backstabbing, cannablistic bitches.
How’s that grab ya there, Tam Tam?
A homosexual pro-aborton progressive feminist like Tammy Bruce and an atheist like Allah Pundit should never be considered “conservatives”.
Exactly what did he handle that was so wrong. These elitists just don’t want him. I could care less what they want.
Yup. We're gonna need to raid the chicken coup for a bushel basket of eggs. Tammy ain't the only one.
The "he is not handling this well" line is less true than the media is making it out to be, but everyone keeps repeating it because, well, everyone else keeps repeating it.
If Cain had come out overly scripted it would turn people off.
Because he is not scripted, the pundits can’t stop talking about it and his poll numbers just keep going up. His strategy is to make it look like he doesn’t have a strategy. He is playing at a whole other level and the pundits will never get it.
I've always found it's easier to tell the truth. It takes considerable effort to remember the lies one has concocted.
