Feinstein Uses 'Fast and Furious' to Make Case for National Gun Registration

(CNSNews.com) – Making a case for national gun registration, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said “perhaps mistakes were made” in the botched gun-walking program known as Fast and Furious, but she said trying to assign blame misses the larger problem.

“This is a deep concern for me. I know others disagree, but we have very lax laws when it comes to guns,” Feinstein, an advocate of gun control, said during Tuesday's hearing of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism.

“My concern, Mr. Chairman, is that there’s been a lot said about Fast and Furious, and perhaps mistakes were made,” Feinstein said. “But I think this hunt for blame doesn’t really speak about the problem. And the problem is, anybody can walk in and buy anything.”

In Operation Fast and Furious, a Justice Department program that began in September 2009, law enforcement knowingly allowed about 2,000 U.S. guns to flow to Mexican drug cartels, with the intent of tracking the weapons and making arrests. However, law enforcement lost track of most of the weapons. The program was halted in December 2010 after two weapons from the program were found at the murder scene of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer, head of the Justice Department’s criminal division, revealed Monday that he knew about Operation Fast and Furious going back to April 2010, but did not inform Attorney General Eric Holder about the matter.

Feinstein asked Breuer about the number of U.S. guns in Mexico.

“From my understanding, 94,000 weapons have been recovered in the last five years in Mexico. Those are just the ones recovered, Senator,” Breuer said. “Of the 94,000 weapons that have been recovered from Mexico, 64,000 of those are traced to the United States. We have to do something to prevent criminals from getting those guns,” Feinstein said.

Then she asked Breuer, “Do you believe that if there were some form of registration when you purchase these firearms that would make a difference?”

“I do, Senator,” Breuer said, adding that “information is the tool we need to challenge the people that are committing this crime.”

The problem is, any idiot can get elected to congress and try to subvert the constitution.

The problem is, the ATF and the attorney general are out of control.

The problem is, the federal government is not adequately controlling the border.

THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED

Madam Senator neither you or anyone else has the constitutional authority to enact any gun laws. If you want to restrict gun ownership pass a constitutional amendment, if you can. Otherwise you have no authority to pass such laws.

Feinstein Uses 'Fast and Furious' to Make Case for National Gun Registration

This was the plan all along. The purpose of Fast and Furrious. It doesn't matter that their criminal actions have been discovered. Socialist like Fineswine make their own reality and the sheeple of America follow.

Will the Republicans use Fast and Furrious to reform or even abolish the BAFTE? No, because it is the Stupid Party.

So, this woman wants to have national registration even though the only way Fast & Furious could work or even happen was for a shop owner to VIOLATE THE LAW AND DO SO WHILE ACTING ON THE BEHEST OF LAW ENFORCEMENT.

Isn't this lying bastard under oath?

When does his prosecution start?

Didn’t Ms. Dianne Feinstein make a ‘straw purchase’ a few years back? Something about the rifle being a gift for her son.

No.
That was Sarah Brady:

I wouldn’t be surprised if those numbers weren’t pretty close. Of course, our government has sold or given truckloads of military rifles to the Mexican government for distribution to their military. With the problems they have keeping the armory doors locked, many - if not most - of those “legal” arms have found their way to the cartels. Hence the high numbers.

Not to mention if a gun had no serial numbers or was in any other way considered not likely to be a US origin gun, it wasn’t considered a “no match”, it just wasn’t sent for comparison to the US database.

So all the negatives got thrown out of the dataset, making the percentage of matches higher.

Gun Walker was nothing but the communists wanting more violence on the border using American guns so they could use that violence as an excuse to try to ban guns. It backfired when 240+ people were killed using those guns. Obama and his administration need to be prosecuted for these crimes.

she’s a liar and she knows it
Feinstein Schumer Whitehouse, came up with this report in June 2011 but they neglected to include an April 2011 update report by Colby Goodman, thus negating the conclusion as a number of the trace requsts were duplicates (how convenient)It has no mention of Fast and Furious...

this was always the main mission of the fast and furious program. Justify more gun control. The deaths were just collateral damage to the dems and rinos.

In MA when I buy a handgun I practically have to disrobe and bend over. And the town next to us has a huge murder problem.

We don’t need more gun laws.

I feel bad for even saying this, but when I used to supervise a staff of female managers the phrase ibhd to drive into their heads was to “Manage with fact not feeling.”. We could then use our emotions to deal with the very few exceptions that occurred.

And people like Pelosi play into that arena of “feeling” above facts.
